This is a really good video mate. I have a GH5, with the 18-35mm and a Canon 200D, with a 50mm lens that I leave on a gimbal. Everything that you said in this video, I have used when I've been on shoots and your information has been invaluable. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. quite informative.... I was wondering though, would you recommend starting out with the g85. I have been renting the gh4 for a while but the censor really feels weak in poorly lit situations.
@JordanLeeVideo

Thanks! I think the G9 is one of the best M43 cameras around at the moment, with very similar specs to the GH5 after their firmware updates (apart from its all-intra recording), and for a similar price of the G85 too 😊

Hi Jordan. I'm a gh5s owner. Which is the AF mode for weddings ? Thanks !
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Personally I never use AF on my GH5, especially for one-take opportunity events like weddings. So I wouldn't know what to suggest, sorry!

Great video - I’m quite new to wedding videography, I have one camera on ceremony unmanned and one with myself. How to ensure it stays in focus when unmanned on the GH5, any tips would be appreciated!
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe! That's exactly how I operate. Best thing to do is gather a decent relationship with the photographer in the morning, and whilst you're setting up for the ceremony, get them to 'stand in' for you so you can set the focus manually. I'd also opt for a deeper f-stop if light permits, so you have that deeper depth of field as a bonus. Also, link up to the Image App so you can keep an eye on framing and make any exposure changes you need, through that 🙂

@@JordanLeeVideo thank you so much for the response! That’s greT, do you do the same when bride is walking down the aisle or do you adjust as she walks?
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome man! In that case, I still fix that B-cam on where the groom is stood, which typically is where the ceremony takes place anyway. Then I get a tight long shot of the bride (over the shoulder of the groom) on my manned camera. This way, I've got option for a nice reverse shot for each of them, to capture that nice smile they tend to give each other as they lock eyes 🙂

Nice vid mate, keep it up. Quick question, why do you turn your IBIS off at 25p???
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! Thats because I always have the cameras on tripods so I personally didn't find much point keeping the camera with IBIS turned on. And I'd always cut to another camera as I reframe which would be the only times the image would be shaky 🙂

You don’t use a gimbal? Smth like the Ronin S.
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 3 жыл бұрын
@@Allujallu I do, yes for much of the day. But the above is specifically talking about the ceremony capture which is always on tripods only. When i'm capturing normal GVs of the rest of the day, I'll flip it back to 50p and enable IBIS/use a gimbal

What is your color profile settings like contrast, saturation
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 3 жыл бұрын
I shoot the majority in Natural with Contrast dialed down to - 5, and Saturday dialed down to - 3. I find that this is a good amount of saturation to lose, with the expectation of probably adding it back in the edit 🙂

I heard you say to film in 60p and with 4k use an atomos. Question: Would it work to film in 24p for that look, and then if you need a slomo section, just to use Topaz Video Enhancer to just slow that section down? It would seem to me that it would be possible to save loads of drive space, and reduce not only additional equipment costs, but also equipment storage, massive drive space savings, equipment fiddling, etc. I have already used that software to slow footage, and it is immaculate. I'm just wondering if that would make sense from your view.
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 2 жыл бұрын
I've never used Topaz Video Enhancer so I'm not the best person for advice on that. All I'd say is, the pixel peepers, and potentially those who hire you, might well be the person who can notice true slow motion over modified/fixed footage, and could well be the next booking that allows you to pay for that hard drive space you need when shooting in 10bit externally. Investment of time, money, and in this case storage, is so important, right down to choices like this. Topaz might be great software, but it would personally bug me if I were relying on plugins to (hopefully) sort out my footage, instead of getting it right on the shoot 👍🙂
@JordanLeeVideo
@JordanLeeVideo 2 жыл бұрын
Also the 4K 60p external is only for the 10bit, the GH5 does have the 8bit internal feature, which could work for your everyday content which isn't shot in V-Log 👍
