Alia is not at all a trained Indian Classical dancer, she worked so hard for 2 months and learned the basics of katthak so that she can perform katthak moves in this song, and she did a pretty good job. Katthak is not at all an easy Indian Classical Dance.

The first is tarana singing: the singer uses syllables and short phrases like 'tana', 'dere', 'na,' 'taa', 'deem', 'dirdir' to sing the melody. This was often used to accompany the classical dance style of kathak, because it is quite rhythmic. Second, later on, is sargam singing, where the singer uses the notes of the scale as the 'lyrics' of the song (sa, re, ga, ma, pa, dha, ni, sa). Third is bols (syllables) from tabla/percussion which are used for rhythm only (or sometimes as compositions for kathak dancers to dance on) which is the 'dha ti dha dhum tita kata' part.
