Without Harold Ramis, it was never going to capture the same lightning in a bottle. And since Ivan Reitman passed away, forget it. It has no soul or sense of anarchy anymore. His son just ain’t got it and needs to put this thing away now.

We're seriously getting to a point where fetishization for nostalgia is becoming too common place in today's media landscape. We need something new, we need risks & we need true innovation from people brave enough to try something of their own. I'm not a Ghostbusters fan but it really sounds like this movie is just aggressive wanking for the past.

Makes one wonder, Sony could have released this in December which was the original release, they supposedly didn’t because of the actors / writers strike because Sony couldn’t promote it using cast members. “Oh I get it” Probably Sony were worried if no promotion then the original cast would complain & not be in the next movie which would kill off this new franchise.

As a borderline middle-aged dork. I have to kind of agree with this review. Also, as a huge fan of this franchise, I am critical, not tribal, and if we are making a Ghostbusters movie, popping out two, after a 40 break, not counting 2016 as it chose to be its own thing. Then this worries me. It took 5 years between the first two, and even that felt rushed. This one was close, though even being back in NYC, ECTO and Peck, this one, yet again felt more like a side story, that if they still wanted to, they could call the next one Ghostbusters 3.

James is not falling for that nostalgia bait. I keep hearing that this movie is just a rehash of Afterlife. Hard pass. I share your disdain for "safe" entertainment. I miss when PG and PG-13 movies had some teeth. Even in a kid's movie like the Monster Squad, you'd get lines like "Wolfman's got nards." Could you imagine the helicopter parents of today losing their minds over that line? Meanwhile, our parents sat with us during Ghostbusters and laughed out loud at the humor that was clearly meant for them, and probably thought, "Eh, my kids will know why that's funny someday" without clutching any pearls. Thank you for your review, James.

Are you actually serious?? It's not a rehash of Afterlife, whatsoever. In fact, it's better than Afterlife. Also, they make multiple jokes about a, "Sex Dungeon," with minors in the room, so I'm pretty sure that has more balls than saying nards.

It feels like the writers are essentially playing a game of Mad Libs, using the same old tired story template😪 But they're gonna keep making them until people stop watching them🤦🏻‍♂️ Telling a good or even decent story is nowhere near the top of the list for these studios, unfortunately👎🏻

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was a fantastic movie. I loved it! This movie has been getting some undeserved hate from critics and I would like to speak out on that. I don’t think that any so-called “Film Critic” should review a movie based on their own expectations and what they think it should be. If they think they can make a better movie, then by all means, go ahead because they sure can’t make a good film review video or write a decent article. At the end of the day, this is Ghostbusters. It’s a film that shouldn’t be taken too seriously and should be enjoyed as it was intended. These films are made for their target audiences, but there is plenty of room for everyday movie goers to enjoy it too. I personally saw the film with a jam-packed theater. There were laughs, smiles, and fun times all around. At the end, people actually stood up, clapped, and enjoyed the experience. Isn’t that what a “Good” movie is supposed to do? Don’t listen to any critic that throws hate at Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. They are wrong, and their false words should not deter you from seeing this extraordinary film. Is it perfect? No. But it’s damn good!

I loved Afterlife. I'm not ashamed to say so cause it's was fan service to my childhood. But this one , I had fun, I had anticipation but it was awkward to get that much fan service again. One movie, ok, but second one, go somewhere else. I also wonder how Lucky ended up where she is, that doesnt make any sense. Podcast and Trevor wouldnt be in the movie and it wouldnt matter much. I loved Dan and Mckenna a lot. I dont want to spoil anything but we saw in the trailer that there's the firehouse and some research facility and how they connect each other is kinda stupid. The end scene felt like a B movie also. I loved the main vilain thread also. I'm a sucker for ancien lore/legends and history but again, if your Patton Oswald and you know what he knows, you tell yourself, why the heck I'm doing this job... Movie could had been great but theses little things got me out of it. Cant wait to see it again but will not pay a penny more for it.
