I'm a Raptors fan, but I love Giannis' story & like him as a player. I have no doubt he'll become an even better player because of this series/loss, and said from the start that his&the team's lack of experience & experience with adversity, would eventually lead them to collapse. It's simply inevitable.

Good points but the priority this summer is becoming a consistently high percentage free throw shooter. If you make your money in the paint FT% is a necessity. While Shaq posted up and Giannis drives the “Hack-a-Shaq” D makes them earn their points. Some people emphasize the 3 as a way to keep defenders honest hitting free throws at about 80% would change the crowd him so he can’t drive/shoot and don’t worry about fouling approach (he shot 63% for the 2018-19 season and worse in the playoffs).
@tominator028
@tominator028 5 жыл бұрын
Chris Kriskovic Yup totally agree. People think that EVERYONE should just develop a 3 point shot and while that may be true Giannis is the most freakishly gifted athlete in the league. If he can hit 80% from the line teams will be more reluctant to fowling him and take their chances on just playing better defense on him which is what he wants. He shot 58% from the free throw line in the playoffs and air balled 2 free throws in back to back games in the last series. That’s just not gonna get it done for a superstar player who relies on his inside game has the majority of his scoring. I think he’ll definitely improve.
@chriskriskovic5914
@chriskriskovic5914 5 жыл бұрын
The other big thing is playing off the ball. Everyone, myself included thought it was strange the Bucks didn’t run a set play at the end of the game instead of the 5 spots on the 3pt line offense. You can trace back to Jason Kidd’s comments about using Giannis as a PG when he obviously wasn’t (still can’t believe the way some of the Bucks fans were all about that idea). Giannis isn’t nearly as good without the ball in his hands. Now he made great steps in that this season, but greater comfort, more experience I might say, playing that style of basketball would really help Giannis and the Bucks. If they could have run a more diverse offensive scheme they would have. After that (maybe next summer?) they can work on the midrange jumper to use as a pull up or out of the post. He has the length to post up and either drive (which is all he does there currently) or make space and shoot a little jump back J. So yup...free throws, working without the ball, midrange, threes...in that order. I’ve seen all his games, I know all his moves.

That's the Norm these days for Players, especially after Losing the Biggest game of the Season. Bro, Losing is Shameful for Winners like Giannis and to get a Question, that Questions his Play Making Skills and Decisions, while he was in the Moment of the Game , is Worse than Losing the Game, for him; it's adding Pain, to the already Existing Pain of Losing the Game for this Young Bro.. It's Kinda like Taunting the Player if you have anything Negative to ask them after they just got knocked out of the Playoffs. So the NBA must take a Closer looked at the Questions being asked to Players, especially after they just Lost or the NBA can just Excuse the Losing Players, from the Interview Process if the Players make a Request to be Excused.

Sure, it's great for half the league who aren't in the playoffs to go get awards. But most of these awards go to players in the post season. I'm sure they'd rather keep their focus on getting a ring. Regular season accolades are great, but it's the post season where they become legends. If I was in the NBA, I'd want nothing to break my focus from the post season, including getting any awards. It can wait until after.

He wasn't really exposed. We always knew he couldn't shoot. The issue is that once an all time great defender starts guarding you, you better have at least some consistent range in your shot. Maudy yes, free throws. Games 4 and 5 (close games) they shot less than 70% as a team. If they shot like they did during season, over in 5. Not apologizing or making excuses, but this is the factor that caused them to lose, everything else aside. Free throws aren’t defended against and there’s no reason to miss so many.
