Tons of kings in the 30-50 lbs range are caught every year from vancouver island all the way up into Alaska. That king wasnt 40 lbs btw. Id say around 30 lbs. thats coming from someone who has caught many kings in the 40-50 lbs range btw.

You guys should make some videos fishing the great lakes. Some phenomenal fishing for Huge lake trout, and big kings, and lots of coho salmon and steelhead. Plus theres atlantic and pink salmon and brown trout plus lots of other species

After dragging those fish to the beach to pose with them they have lost much of the strength they will need to spawn successfully .Wild Kings in much of Alaska, including the rivers on the Kenai Peninsula where this was filmed, are endangered. I know the thrill of catching them. So I understand the excitement you feel. I've lived here nearly 50 years now, and have witnessed the decline. At this point, every Wild king matters.

It was probably 32lbs next year go to the feather river outlet hole in Oroville ca. the 3rd week of July or last week of august you want fish that average 40 lbs and better!!! Come and get your fish on. OH YEAH THATS IF FISHING FOR CHINOOK DOESNT GET PERMANENTLY BANNED

Beautiful fish but it ain’t 40. I’ve seen a couple 40 lbers gutted on a scale and they make this one look small man. Sorry to burst your bubble but it’s probably 25 maybe pushing 30.

Id say 30-35 tops because of girth. Ive caught kings from Washington state, through canada, and in Alaska in the 30-50 lbs range. Many of them in the 40-50 lbs range and they made that fish look small lol.

Why release the fish. Severe physiological stress traumatizes and causes a fairly high instantaneous death rate(within a few days) if you're gonna fish keep it to eat
