I'm a 1 month owner of the slightly bigger brother of this one with the Advanced Pro 2 of 2023 (which actually looks very similar, I've not seen the 2023 version of the X1 but hated the color on the 2024, the orange looks weird IRL) and am in love with it as it kind of does exactly what I wanted to get out of it. I have my background in 10 years of riding a hardtail mountainbike on the exact same terrain I'm now going over with the Pro 2, which doesn't mean I'm now abusing the expensive carbon bike but rather that I never really used the hardtail for its intended purpose. A lot of my riding is still spent on asphalt in order to get to where I ride which is mostly in the woods on forestry routes that can get a little bumpy and have potholes depending on how well maintained they are. I also enjoy a good climb and previous had a lockout "remote" lever on my handlebar as the only luxury feature on my 600 euro hardtail. With the Revolt X I still have some more getting used to ahead of me with regards to the geometry, I've now started doing planks regularly to get my back to stop hurting after 30-40km and I'm hoping to see improvement here given some more time. The ride feel is great for me, you can notice a little bit of squish going on when you're going hard out of a Z2-Z3 type ride on the first couple pedal strokes, but not overly so. Hitting bumps for the most part is really smooth, especially in the rear end compared to the hardtail, the suspension post is really doing its job there for me. Going down some overgrown, year old tractor tracks day 1 my first thought was "why don't I feel my butt?" You do get the occasional pothole at speed that can throw you off if you're not prepared for the hit and I am going downhill a tad slower than I was used to on the hardtail because the reduced tyre size and suspension travel does still matter to some degree, the hardtail is simply indestructible in those parts. However with experience comes confidence and to my surprise I have even had downhill PRs show up in my Strava summaries where I had kind of assumed I'd never be able to improve now that my hardtail is a retired Zwift bike. I think my point of view is from someone who was overprepared to ride anything (just slower) to now having mostly experienced what my regional tracks have in store for me and finding a much better compromise in the new bike that will allow me to ride the slightly technical stuff I get on occasion like my commute that is 80% paved but has one shortcut section down a washed out dirt road with a bunch of big rocks sticking out. I would never be riding these on anything close to a road bike and would be a lot more cautious on a stiff gravel bike I reckon, but with the X I don't really have to think twice about where I'm going because despite being insanely quick by comparison, I know I have a bike with me that is capable of riding anything that's not a DH feature Fwiw if you find a nice bumpy single/double track climb I feel completely locked in going into the drops and pedalling my heart out, you don't lose your grip when the bumps hit and I personally don't get the feeling that I'm losing a ton of momentum in the squish either. Two or three things I'd mention negatively with the bike (both sadly fixed by spending more money, I got mine for 3650 new off buycycle being still about 1k over budget) is that a lockout on the fork would still be nice to have for peace of mind, a lot of times you simply don't need it and being able to go stiff when you've got 20km of boring pathed town road ahead would be cool. The Rudy Ultimate and all the competitors I've seen do have one in the higher price range, starting with the Pro 1 from Giant. All of them for some reason have the lockout on top of the fork though, no remotes from what I've seen. The other one is the gearing which *works* for me, however I do sometimes feel like there will come a time where I'll be going up a segment and I'll not be super fit anymore and yearn for a proper granny gear which 42T just isn't. The sad reality here is that to my knowledge I'd have to swap out basically all of my components to change anything about my current gearing as the Rival shifters cap out at 11 gear, the rear deraillour caps out at 42T anyway and the bike wouldn't even have any way to mount a front deraillour to go 2x if I wanted to compromise that way. My steepest local climb is 13-14% at most and I already have to reduce my cadence quite a bit to make it up, however that climb is completely optional and bypasses my favorite route up that same hill so it's not a dealbreaker for me. All in all though I think it kind of speaks for itself that what I'm now eyeing as my absolute dream bike is essentially a custom titanium version (with a bike fit for custom frame geometry) of the Revolt X complete with suspension and the dropper, just with a high end groupset, hopefully a remote lockout (may well exist by the time I can afford this) and a really nice paintjob. Fwiw if I happen to have the money and I like the frame color (current R1's golden haze looks divine to me) of then-current-year I might simply upgrade to the Pro 0 in a year or two. My dad still swears by his hardtail when we ride together, he's sceptical of my purchase but I'd definitely go for it again or maybe wait a little bit and get a current year R1 instead for the gearing and lockout fork.

I have had this bike for 3 or 4 months now and I love it! Nice and fast on road and can handle some decent off road. Have taken it for a blast at Dalby forest and it handles nicely on the rougher stuff too. Good for someone that can't justify more than one bike and likes an allrounder.

I bought my revolt x pro with carbon frame four weeks ago. I love this bike. I agree with a lot of what you are saying however I disagree with the road riding "squish" I took this bike to Iowa and RAGBRAI 2024. 80 percent asphalt and 20 percent gravel. It preformed like butter on the road and absolutely amazing on the gravel courses. This ride was over 18000 feet of climb and had zero squish. My mechanic set the front suspension to the max (no lockout) and honestly there was zero issues. Great video and thank you!

Thanks for that feedback. I've heard similar a few times now. Makes sense with how many very positive media reviews this bike has gotten... makes me tempted personally.

Always appreciate you going beyond just the specs and offering your insight. Revolt is on my short list for my new bike so I really enjoyed this one. Thanks as always and great job.

Giant was my bike of choice all my road cycling years. Recently handed my TCR 2 over to my son as I’ve moved to trail, gravel and adventure riding on the Marin Pine Mountain 1 and loving it very much. This is a good looking frame to me. Very nice looking drop bar bike with some great features and I’ve always been partial to Giant bikes. Great review! 🙂

I agree would want this bike with a rigid front fork also, and with a 1X would definitely purchase it.

I just bought the 2023 Revolt X Adv Pro 2, it’s a fantastic bike, I’m happy with the suspension fork, but it would be nice if it had a lockout like the Adv Pro 1, hey ho I’m not looking for speed on the roads so it does fine with me
