Where in "Upstate" are you located? I was born in Syracuse and lived there for 10 years (+/-). Left during the blizzard of 1978 for the Panama 🇵🇦 🇵🇦 Canal Zone 🇵🇦 . Got to Howard AFB and the heat was radiating off the tarmac!

Hello from the UK, my whole family have spent the last few days watching all your videos to help with our problem, we had 3 dogs and unfortunately our oldest sweet girl passed away over a month ago so we have now two fur babies a 5 yr old cockerpoo and a 1 yr old cocker shipoo. Last weekend out of the blue my 5 yr old has started attacking the younger dog with no warning (younger one asleep on the floor) and pinning him by his throat and it happened on Sunday about 4 or 5 times! The last time my husband struggled to get the older dog off his throat. So at the moment we have separated them ( luckily my in-laws live over the road) during the day completely and then at night one sleeps upstairs the other downstairs. But I am desperately seeking some advice into what we should do to get this to stop. We are so worried he will kill the younger one. Thanks hope you can give me some help with this terrible situation. 😢😢😢

I’m working on it too now. At first it seems so awkward lol. Plus my pup is never this chill as the dogs in these videos when he’s working with the heels. My BC thinks it’s time to jump and bite and shake the leash but I’m getting really good at that assertive voice and correction 💪🤞

Absolutely. I love how he says your command is never over UNTIL you release (Break) the dog in whatever you are telling the dog to do… “in order to release the dog into being a dog.” So true! And the music is the best I have ever heard on ANY KZfaq channel, EVER. Phenomenal and the BEST Dog Training channel I have seen, number 1 I go to since I got my wild GS rescue 5 months ago. He is now 10 months, and has turned a 180, calm around other dogs, children, a beautiful sweet GS! Thx to Tom’s leash walking (prong) training videos! Thx Tom, @upstatecanineacademy if you read this! Excellent post Conny!

Haven't finished watching this yet, but first thing I noticed was when the owner was handling the dog, the dog had his tail tucked firmly between his legs the whole time. When Tom started handling him, his tail came straight out and his whole demeanor changed - the dog started paying attention.

I noticed that to, but also he said they dont walk the dogs. So they miss out on alot of confidence building, trust and the bond one get of a structured walks. And I think both their dogs at home need the same rules. Have a feeling the yorkie might be a little possesive over things or people in the home towards the other dog. And or the bigger dog have to high energy and small dog thinks it's to much. And fights break out. Either way, owners need to put the foot down. Tom is a very good leader/guide who has a very clear language to dogs. Dogs feels his secure energy almost instantly when he take the leash.

Giant schnauzers are such fun dogs to work with! Total weirdos, but their smarts are so underrated! I used to work with one and I could teach him literally anything I could think of and I barely knew anything about training at that time, glad you were able to drive the message home to the owners Tom! That is the hardest part with novice owners and super intelligent breeds

I’ve got an Aussie and he’s a lot like how you described giant schnauzers. Extremely smart so constantly pushing boundaries and protective. Without doing daily training with him, I’m not sure I’d be able to keep up. Most of what we do was learned from you. It’s nice to be able to handle him better than I expected because of the preparation into learning before hand. I will forever continue to try and learn as much as I can from you.

I hope all has noticed, realizing how much respect, & love the pups look up towards Thomas!! That’s been top notch in my book, simply because, those pups want and respect direction, just like kids, they thrive on this, every pup is different, every child is different, for this all, positive direction, encouragement, without it, it will make any soul feel lost, confused, betrayed in different manners. Those pups literally look up to him saying, thank you!!

I have 2 giant schnauzers. Doug is a gorgeous boy like our male giant. My female giant loves us more than anything and always works at 110% if she’s not working she becomes headstrong and mean. She isn’t afraid of anything and loves to throw her weight around and our male giant schnauzer is a lot like Doug, he needs constant reinforcement but calm and loves to have something to do. he’s rough and tumble. They don’t take direction or commands from anyone but us so it’s not easy to find someone who can watch them. They love to bully people who think they can “manhandle” them into submission, including scaring that person just for the fun of it. The learning curve on these dogs was unreal! But it was worth the work!!! They are kind, loving and smart. Love all of your videos! So happy to see a giant schnauzer on your channel 😍🥰🤩!
