A fun and tasty added item....BUT...medically, very useful as well, Cayenne Pepper is an all natural clotting agent and will disinfect a cut as well. And nope....no burn. Not meant to fully replace a clotting agent like Celox, etc, but on smaller cuts and wounds, it works great. I've used it, when I slipped with my Mora and opened a finger. Good video....well done. Always build your own med kit.

All the super tactical guys on you tube with their kits, never heard anybody mention salene or benadryl. Great ideas you'll use (hopefully) way more often than combat gauze and tourniquets.

On the topic of saline, you can get saline nose spray and use it on wounds. When buying make sure its 100% saline and now you have the ability to clean out a wound before applying something like iodine/alcohol/peroxide on a wound (obviously not a super serious wound). People might go wth! and/or balk at it because it says "nose spray" on it but its generally about the same saline used for surgical irrigation. I've bought several for a buck a piece and hopefully I have break into them for dry sinuses rather than irrigation prior to expiration.

Re: iodine - please make sure that anyone in your group/camp *isn't* allergic to shellfish. just like folks can be allergic to just dust from peanuts iodine can do that with shellfish allergies. You can put iodine on my skin but I wouldn't go any further than that. So maybe another way of cleaning/disinfecting, like a few alcohol prep pads. The eye drops reminded me of my own saline. I have a couple of bottles of 100% saline nose spray. It can be used to clean up wound area. People might balk at it when they see "nose spray" but its just saline... There was a comment about the self sticking bandage wrap below. I've heard it called coflex a lot. You can get it in the first aid supplies in stores/pharmacies. You can also get it from vets or stores like Big R that will have animal care supplies and you tend to get more of it for less money than at other stores. www.bigronline.com/large-animal-health/vet-wraps.htm

benadryl is an antihistamine. for additional nonprescription relief from an allergic reaction you can give Pepcid.

Good basic suggestions. Well thought out and my only suggestion would be a basic guide for first aide booklet or card for those people who never took any first aid courses and don't stop to think they most likely will be in a place where they can't Google everything. A good idea would be to study or take first aide classes period. You need to "know" what to do in an emergency as there most likely will not be time to look stuff up. Be Prepared!

GReat list. I really like how much thought you put into your videos and reviews. I would definitely add some inexpensive blister treatments to an outdoor kit, and probably some hard candy for any issues related to diabetes or insulin shock.

Great Job! The SWAT-T & Celox saved my leg about a year ago, I'm a type 2 Diabetic ( Do Not use a IFAK Tourniquet!) I cut open my leg and If Not for just using 2 of those Big qauze pads, with the other two items I'd have Bleed out or lost my leg. Build your own KIT to cover the Basics and TRAUMA! Most ready made Kit's are just what Aaron said, a few different sizes of Band-aids. Thanks Aaron you reminded me that even though I'm stuck at home, I need to get my Kit back up.

Thanks Aaron, I meant stuck at home, because I'm permanently in an Electronic Wheelchair, I used to be an Avid Fisherman and hiker, I WISH I could have gone out to the woods camping wherever I wanted, but back home in Texas ONLY 11% of the State is Public Use Land, either go to a State Park, (camp next to an RV) or have friends with Big Ranches.

If iodine isn't an option, you can use hibiclens which is chlorohexadine. I also highly suggest items like coflex wrap (self adhesive wrapping), triangular bandage (aka arm sling) with swath, paracord (in case you need to rig a limb splint), and some pepto tablets.

Good review, as always, Aaron. Like you, I make my own kits, using suggestions by my wife, who is an RN. A couple other medical type items that I include for backpacking is Imodium or equal, as well a few plain aspirin. For bandaging in case of treating some kind of deep wound I pack a couple of cheap tampons.

Hey Aaron and all of your loyal followers, I used the link to buy some basic items from this Video but didn't check out the New Bag, I just got the one on the video, Folk's look at the New one on the link it has TWO zipped mesh pockets on the lid, this would allow you to have more "Need Now" stuff in front and right there. I hope this helps those still waiting to get started.

Benadryl is not an anti-inflammatory as you say it is at 4:19.. It IS used if someone is having an allergic reaction, but it's an antihistamine, not an anti-inflammatory. An anti-inflammatory is something like Ibuprofen, which you should also be carrying in your kit.

Nice job! For that bag, I'd add a few CHEAP items. For the top "Bu-Bu" section, a roll of Tums, a few Wet Wipes and Imodium pills. Sucks to have the "Hershey Squirts" out in the Wilds. For the Trauma Section, a Small Signal Mirror in case your own Face or Backside gets hurt, and one of the Silver $1 "Survival Blankets" for Shock. Shouldn't cost more than another $5 per bag, and any extra could used for the Home First Aid kit. Hope this helps.

Coflex, I believe thats the general term. You can either get it in HBC areas of stores and/or pharmacies but you can also get it from vets. Vets will call it vet wrap and you get a lot more for the same price than what you can get it at chain stores/pharmacies meant for humans.

so, gotta say, another great video. I absolutely love your channel and have bought several knives/equipment on your recommendations. funny thing is my wife usually sits by me while I watch your videos and one day said "I really like that name Gideon, I like the Biblical account and his channel reminded me of the name." So, six days ago, I delivered my fourth child (midwife didn't get there in time) and his name is Gideon. thought you might get a kick out of that.

Thank you and God bless you and yours as well. From what I gather from your videos you are in ministry. I've had the privilege of serving in Christian camping for nearly 15 years and I've seen God use ordinary people to touch others in extraordinary ways. I teach outdoor education as well as using bushcraft and survival as a way to share Christ and disciple others. Being able to see good reviews on equipment helps me to recommend products to staff who don't have the extra cash to waste on lemons(there are a few rat 1s and a spec plus machete in my staff's bags thanks to your reviews). I personally have a tops Bob, izula II and am getting ready to buy an esee 6 in the near future largely because of the great info you provide in your reviews. You do an awesome job and produce the best videos out there imho. God bless and drop us a line of you're ever in Ohio!

Do not use celox powder. buy the bandage gauze with a clotting agent in it. If you have a lot of blood flowing out quick the blood will wash away the celox powder. Also never leave the house without your high speed tourniquet/choking device (AKA belt).

Never did like store bought first aid its either overpriced with a mix of gear you will never (or don't know) but its "cool" gear and to little gear that you need or under-priced and by that i mean cheap junk gear.My bet is always make one yourself buy a bag you prefer put items that you know how to use and items by brands that you trust .How much or how little you carry its up to you i have a fatboy pouch got everything i need plus some spare space.

Not sure what you're up to but you and your buddies seem to get hurt a TON. More than anyone I know who regularly spends time in the outdoors. If you're really this interested in first response and field medicine, PLEASE take an EMT or EMR course. The gaps in your education are painfully obvious, so far behind your gear.
