thats 240 steel , the magnum is this The new Hibben Bloodwood Magnum Bowie Knife, crafted by noted knife designer Gil Hibben, really is a beast of a bowie knife. You can't show this knife to folks without it broadcasting that you mean business. The 12 1/2”, razor-sharp 3Cr13 stainless steel blade is massive. It features a stainless steel guard and pommel and a bloodwood handle with decorative pins. The weight of the grip/tang overpowered the blade at the hilt.. so when it struck the tree gravity and momentum stressed the blade at the hilt and caused the blade to snap off. If that makes sense. Good on ya re-using the blade to make another knife! And I saw this literally JUST when I was thinking about getting one of those to go with my Hibben Old West toothpick!

I love how after it broke, you started taking the blame for it breaking, rather than fault the steel, tempering, etc. This is what happens when you abuse a blade by not us g it for what it was intended for! If it is a fighting knife, that is what it is…it is not a throwing knife, a camp knife or a survival knife…but it is an urban, bar room brawl survival knife!

@@DonnieBAllDay I feel that the edge it came with wasn't that great, but being a combat knife, I suppose that geometry was made to be durable when stabbing through things, like flak jackets and Molle vests and the like. I find it is a decent camp knife and I have used it to chop through one of the hardest local woods we have here in WI.

I'm surprised about the edge. Its supposed to be a military utility knife. Usually that means having a shave sharp edge like the Case and Ka-Bar

I like pointy knives and have recently purchased an M48 Scottish Dirk which also has a smaller brother. I will check this Hibben out. I also have 2 WW2 bayonets that I have recently restored to proper shape, and I am currently looking for a WW1 bayonet my grandfather might have used in action. Belt clip is what this knife has. There are several knives including my combat knives that have this exact type of BELT CLIP. They are made that way so with the metal belt clip you can put it on or off your belt without needing to take your belt off so this is actually a belt clip. Common sense tells you this knife is too big to be a boot knife which this knife is not. Anyone in military will say this has a belt clip.

Why would you throw your weapon away? Moving past that, the brass in the spine was a poor design idea as it weakens the over all blade. Looks pretty but IMO that's a design flaw.
@DonnieBAllDay8 ай бұрын
The brass doesn't weaken the blade. Its glued over the top. It actually protects the blade and reduces vibration. as for throwing, many reasons to learn to throw.
