Forbes reported that Wemby added 500M to the franchise he will be drafted in. Just now, NBA posted the top-selling jerseys this season and Wemby is top 4 overall. He is top 2 in jersey sales in Europe. And the Spurs are even in the top 10 franchise’ merch sales this season. I’m guessing Caitlyn Clark will do the same if not better for her team, but there’s levels to this. It’s easier to make an impact in a small pond, compared to the ocean.

NBA League Pass subscriptions, jersey sales, game attendance… All of this leads to more eyeballs which the NBA will charge advertisers and tv networks to broadcast their games nationally more frequently. I think Aja Wilson will have a shoe. In that Nike event where they revealed Wemby’s prototype shoe, there are also shoe prototypes for other athletes like Mbappe and Shacarri Richardson. What mens college rivalry is as popular right now? None because al the best players leave after one year... Most of the time, you draft based on potential. There are only few gems or generational talents that were sure win on draft day. I agree with Gil on this one, if you got to compare the same player, one with a 4-year college experience vs another with a 4-year pro experience, the player who went pro will destroy the other most of the times. So, if that is the common result down the road, it is therefore reasonable to draft young and develop "potential"
