Maybe you should write a more detailed critique to explain why you would consider the result "crap". I am really impressed by this piece of art, but maybe I just fail to see the lack of quality that seems to be so obvious to you... and why are you always putting up artists against each other? Why should I check out Cam Kennedy INSTEAD - why not check him out AS WELL? Also: I recommend Sam Kieth and Simon Bisley! :)

Not only is the artwork itself beautiful, but his process is incredible. He uses zero reference, doesn't sketch anything out, is able to keep perspective while still keeping in mind the composition, all while keep a storyline and overall theme, switch between mechanical and organic shapes, simultaneously use line work while still having shadows, conveys movement, uses negative space, understands 3D environemnts, the list goes on..... The amount of envy I'm feeling is unparalleled.

Many 3D artists reconstructed few of his drawing to study how accurate is his oblique perspective and sense of scorso. This man has A COMPUTER VISION for eyes and parallel CPU inside his head. It's absurd how accurate this man is with the sense of scale and proportion.

I've just learned the death of KJG. what a tremendous loss. The mistery of his mental process when drawing is as much fascinating as his works themselves. Watching him at work just give me the feeling he's a in a state of superconsciouness or something like that. Like he would visualize his creations in 3D, turn around them, and ink the preparatory sketch invisible to us but not to him. R.I.P magician.

So amny of his drawings have the kind of angles you get with a typical 35 mm camera. It's like he's memorized those compositions and then adapted them (brilliantly) for his own needs. It may well be that he has a visual "photographic" memory (literally). Very, very impressive.

First off, it doesn't seem he's looking at a reference, the characters are all different, the perspective is curved, drawing people on bikes is hard, the depth makes everything looked planned but it isn't, there is a lot of detail and doesn't look sketchy, the composition is interesting, all the characters interact, there is a sense of movement, he draws characters of all ages, he draws animals, it's all done quickly and effortlessly, it is just incredible to behold. Inspired.

Shit like this blows. my. mind. I was an avid drawer back in the day but gave it up and became a productive part of society sporting the classic 8-5 career now. Looking at this video makes me reflect on my artistic days when I could do SOME of this but not to this level. My issue back then was I operated on a perfectionist level when it cam eto drawing. i would hit parts in my art where I didn't want to continue drawing it because it looked perfect - even if unfinished). Funny, but looking at this video I mentally took note a multiple times when I would have said... meh, that looks good - next. To see someone carry on and quickly draw out details that my brain would take minutes to even think of is incredible. Wish I could do this. This guy is amazing!

The impression I got from this guy is that he has an incredible visual memory, a library of images stored in his brain. It is obvious that he observes everything around him, the most mundane of objects to animals, people, clothing, machines. He observes everything when he goes out in the world, an open mind of sorts, ready to absorb what he sees. That's my impression of him.

tucnasam Yeah, I heard that a lot coming from lazy people as well. A desire to be great in something is notghing but a desire until you simply do stuff to become as great as you wanted to be or even better. Artist here is confident in his skills in himself in his eyes that have seen and memorized all he drew, most of all he simply loves it.

Photographic memory can be taught. If you dedicate a great ammount of time on it. Try some simple excercises like looking at a photo for 10 seconds. Then take it away and try to redraw that image. Stay at it for some years and you will deffinitely start developing photographic memory with great detail.
