Diana is just a crown jewel. No one at MOTOWN could do what she could do. Her speaking skills alone are eloquent and superior. Berry Gordy really knew how to pick talent. Stunning woman. The ultimate star. I love this interview

I love how she made her entrance to the house band's rendition of "The Happening." It's one of The Supremes' twelve #1 hits, but also one of their most overlooked.
@blogshagify3 жыл бұрын
I think "The Happening" is overlooked because of its1890's music influence and sound (Dixie jazz?) But that's exactly why I love it. It's very different, yet catchy and just a wonderful piece of music....and not soul music at all, really. Much of what Stats did wasn't soul music. It was pop, ballads.

I will admit that I am not really a fan of this interviewer, some of his questions seems to come off as an interrogation and NOT an interview. If a performer comes on your show, they should be treated with RESPECT and I don't think that she received it. Yes , I am aware that this was aired 40 yrs ago, but still.

She paved the way -- so how you see it can be taken seriously. Blacks were not supposed to correct such behaviors from others. @Terrence I'm actually proud that you picked up on that ✊🖤

5:45- 6:43 She’s basically describing MJ’s experience as a child star too. I had no idea that had happened to her too. I guess that’s why she decided to try to help him. But sadly wasn’t able to succeed as much as she might have tried to or wanted to. So sad!!! Now I understand what might have been the major connection and bond between them. It’s sad to know she couldn’t save him from all the same experiences and bad fate that came from it. It’s good that she was able to figure out how to get out of that and blossom and thrive and become her fully self actualized self as we know Diana Ross to be. It’s a shame MJ didn’t do that for whatever reason.

Don't think she was at ease with this interviewer. He starts off by talking about her money (tacky), then mentions 300 wigs (tackier), and then refers to Flo Ballard. (tackiest)

I think because they were young, Diana was so focused on her rise and security. Flo’s demons I believe led her down a path that Motown didn’t prepare themselves for. Just a tragic situation and Mary herself has said she didn’t stand up for her. I believe Gordy said the only artist he helped recover from any addiction was Smokey.

@@tarrencejames1277 It already came. Diana “allegedly” started drinking heavily, just like Flo, after her husband Arne left her for another younger girlfriend. He was the love of her life and has since passed away, and she doesn’t seem to have had another significant relationship since.

I like Diana Ross too and it's not her job nor does she have to talk about Flo and what happened to Flo, she was there to promote a new album at that time and no matter what she says about Flo people will still make up stuff so what's the point.
@PoliticalFunk007 Жыл бұрын
Just a few facts to clarify some rumors: Flo Ballard was no longer part of The Supremes in 1966-67, and Diana Ross did not spend time with Flo or Mary Wilson after the group disbanded. When Ross left in 1970, she would not have known what was happening with Flo six years later. Ross was busy with her own career through Flo's passing in 1976, and they were not close at the time. It's worth noting that Ross was awarded Female Entertainer of The Century in 1976, and the Guinness Book of World Records declared her the most successful female music artist in history in 1993, due to her many chart-topping hits.
