Girl found this lost parakeet in a New York City park. He was just a tiny ball of fluff, so Brooke brought him home, even though she was scared of birds and didn’t want to keep him. But over time, she fell in love with Baby, and now these two are like two peas in a pod.

I had a friend in Houston whose two budgies were stolen from her home. She was heartbroken, and so after about a week to let her grieve, we all pooled our money and got her two budgies. You can never replace a beloved pet, but you can always find room in your heart to love another one. ♥

That's a beautiful and compassionate gesture from you and your friends! Losing a beloved pet is indeed heart-wrenching, but your act of getting her two new budgies shows the resilience of love and the capacity of the heart to welcome new companions. It's a testament to the bond we share with our feathered friends. 🐦💖

You gave them just a week to grieve? Thought that counts but seems like a short time, and pets also shouldn’t be given as a gift.

sadly the world out there isnt budgie friendly, they can fall prey to hawks, cats etc.. and the fact they are domesticated means they wont find food nor water. also depending where you live they can die through bad weather conditions or freeze to death at night. and then there is the "how high is the chance" that a human recognize the bird he is watching is a budgie and the budgie itself is willing enough to let it be catched or picked up etc.. so yea, i also hope your bird found a new home 20 years ago but the chances are slim that he made it :(

You have a beautiful harlequin parakeet. It is a male as the cere (nostril area) is blue. Females are tan or a whitish color. Yes, it’s young. Younger parakeets have many dark lines all the way from their nostril area going up. As they age, these lines advance and less lines are seen closer to the face. PLEASE be careful if he has free rein in your home. One mis-step or closing door could lead to tragedy. Also any Teflon based pots or pans are bad. They give off an odor that humans can’t detect, but which will kill birds. Also any type of air freshener, scented candles, cigarette smoke etc could affect its health or even cause its demise. Please look up food diets for parakeets . Ice cream is not good. Thank you for not abandoning this precious bird! God bless you! 😊❤🦜

I’m a proud budgie mom of two. My first has been my constant companion for 7 years. About 3 years ago my neighbors found a beautiful blue budgie on their driveway. They were able to corral him. Knowing l had a bird they thought it might be mine. My bird was safe at home so I purchased a cage for the new foundling. We have no idea where he came from. No one came forward to claim him. He’s a beautiful turquoise blue like the budgie in this video and my two birds are the best of friends.❤

I also found a budgie about 5 years ago in a San Francisco parking lot while I was skateboarding! She must've been about 3 months old at that point, no leg band or any word back for a lost parakeet. So I decided to keep her too, named her Banana. Yours reminds me of her, such a sweetie. She passed away a little while ago now, but I'll never forget the experience of taking a her to Petco while perched on my finger and riding an electric skateboard down a bike path. I saw a white thing across the street, my mum went out, caught it and it turned out to be a baby bird, we think its a Canary Finch as its yellow / grey. He did used to sing like mad which was amazing but he's getting old now, losing his feathers, and only tweets when I say hi to him. He does make it clear when strangers (even other family members) get near his cage he isn't happy. He has been a real joy and I dread the day he'll go to Feather Heaven.

That is extremely sweet. Why not have a loving relationship with a bird if that bird gives so much to your life & you to his. All animals are sentient beings after all. Birds are a lot more intelligent than people think. Enjoy him whilst you have him in your world, it's precious.

My mama rescued a baby sparrow whose mom was nowhere to be found. Fed it like a bird mama would by chewing food for it and having it eat it off her tongue. One day she didn't realize she had left the back door when he was flying around the house. She was in the back yard crying and calling, Chippy Chippy to about 20 birds sitting on a telephone cable. A neighbor friend said you will never see him again. She kept crying and calling when a few minutes later Chippy flew down and sat on her shoulder while she walked back into the house.

Chippy continued. One evening when he was flying around the house, we could find him anywhere. Then we heard weak little cheeps. We traced the sound to behind a very large bookcase where he was trapped. We got it totally unloaded and moved in minutes. He fell to the floor and Mama saw his little leg was broken. she splinted it with a toothpick and stayed awake all night cradling him in her hand and giving him water. His leg healed perfectly and he died of natural causes at whatever age is old for sparrows.

In my youth we lost our budgie as well. One moment of distraction and he flew outside and just took off. I hope this is what happened to him. :)

I found a budgie outside too! He was my bestie. Passed away in 2020. People just let them out sometimes. It’s so cruel. Congrats on finding such a little gem

Cruel or accidental? Usually or rarely, birds would fly out the window because someone forgot to close the windows in their home.

@@CooperGal24 It happens both ways unfortunately. I had a budgie in high school that accidentally flew out an open window but got her back 1 week later after placing an ad. A classmate's father let her budgies out the back door because he was tired of them. He was kind of mean.

I have never seen such a playful and enthusiastic budgie. Pixel and Kiwi come close, but Baby looks like he leaves them in the dust with the way he wrestled with the scrunchy and chased the egg.
