OK I'm conflicted about this proposal scene. On the one hand I think it's well written and acted, and I truly felt Shawn's love and admiration for Katie, but at the same time, I feel that the payoff would've had more of an impact if Shawn had been in more episodes before then.

What I loved about is Shawn has always been broken, didn't know where he belonged. He did have best friends like Cory and Topanga. But he needed someone to make him complete. He was never the same after Angela left him and broke his heart. He didn't believe in love for a long time, but things changed when he met Katy. She opened his eyes to new beginnings. Yes Angela was his first love but Katy the love of his life. I loved how they did this. So beautiful. He went from not having a family to having one and a wife. ♥️♥️♥️

I feel like the only thing that would have made that scene any better is if we had Chet come in and say something like "that's my boy". That would have made the scene perfect for me.

I’m glad they brought Shawn back. This series did a great job of giving him that happy ending he so desperately sought. At the of BMW, Shawn’s future was so ambiguous because he lost Angela and wasn’t 💯 sure what path to take in life (Eric was kinda in that same boat too but we all knew he’d be fine no matter what). Sure. Shawn seemed to be doing well financially and socially but he still had an emptiness in his soul (we’ve all been there). By marrying Katy and later adopting Maya, Shawn found someone he loved and who loved him back. It gave his life purpose. It took a a good 16/17 years but I think his story and character arc came to a satisfying end.

ONe of the best moments of the show. and Maya should keep the purple look for her hair.

This is my FAVORITE moment ever in Girl Meets World. Forget the Maya X Lucas X Riley triangle, this is the ship I was routing for the most and had high hopes for. Especially since Shawn (best friend of Cory) connected and becomes the father figure of Maya (best friend of Riley). It’s literally * chefs kiss * perfection 💕✨

Those are the scenes that make this a great program like its predecessor, and I am far from their target audience. Watching the actors, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel ( who produced the episode) react in the background to the scene. You can see how much their characters and these shows mean to them. Love the Shawn / Katy / Maya story line, it's a Win, Win, Win !! Well Done :)

I've read comments where many people are saying it's rushed, but it's actually not. From S1-now there has been progress with shawn and katy. Some moments we've seen some we haven't, it's character progression without forcing that character on you due to it being a sub plot.

I almost cried watching this episode

I'm really surprised people hate them together and want Shawn and Angela to get back together. They were really great at the the time but they started dating in high school and were on and off throughout college. Their relationship not surviving between the shows makes sense. He and Katy have good chemistry so let them be happy!

I really do like the pairing and the happy family ending for Maya, Katy, and Shawn... but that's some wild stuff to say right before proposing right in front of everybody, and then getting suddenly married. TBH, if you're going to do a spontaneous wedding, at least make it a bit more romantic? This was like a 7, and I wish it could have been a 12. But I don't think it could have ever been what it needed to be. Not on Disney, and not with the understandably limited Shawn/Katy screentime. I'd love a fic that explores this dynamic outside of Maya just finding herself a new dad and Shawn and Katy agreeing.

I have a feeling, that in that scene, like force ghosts, Mr. Feeney and Shawn's dad were in the room. at that point, Chet would have looked at Corey and said something like, "boy, you go get your kid's friend's hands washed up, cause there ain't no way I'm gonna permit my granddaughter to go off to school, lookin' like a dammed she smurf." hearing that, he would have looked toward Feeny and asked, "should I also get maya to a hair salon, because there is no way, my friend would permit his daughter to go to school, with a home dye job, that looks like Kool aid mixed with grape soda." Feeny having met maya previously, would have replied with, "yes. also, since Chet's the grandfather, I'm sure he'd have something to say about it." Chet, having been a student of Feeny's at some point, would have had no problems with it, stating, "I would. I agree with Corey, George. Also why did the boy marry, Topanga? she sounds like a lunatic." in reply, George would have shrugged, before saying this, " You're not wrong, the girl has problems. we should go look for Mr. Mathews, I'm sure his wife is tired of her yelling at him." they just walk, right through the wall at that point.

I'm gonna be honest before girl meets world I had only heard of boy meets world I never watched it until I saw a quick Shawn and Angela compilation on instagram and it was so cute so then I binged watched boy meets world for a week and a half and I just finished today so I just finished catching up on season 3 of gmw and before I would've been so happy about this proposal bc I hard core shipped Katy and Shawn not knowing anything about Angela but I just feel what Shawn and Angela had was real and unrushed I mean I'm happy for Shawn but I just really wish some plot twist where Angela got divorced happened but this is how the director wanted it there's nothing I can do to change it and I know it's just a show but I kinda wish Katy and Shawn had the chemistry him and Angela had because I just don't feel it but congrats to Shawn I am glad he finally got his happiness and maybe we'll see Angela at the wedding

...this is ridiculously rushed and unrealistic. Only disney kids would like this just for the simple reason that they want Shawn to be Maya's father. What he and Angela had was more real than even Corey and Topanga. What would've made MORE sense was to have him be a father-figure to Maya and build a cool relationship that way mirroring the one he had with Mr. Turner (since this show likes to mirror everything else from Boy Meets World). I mean..come on now..really?..smh...

The only real issue I had with this is the development of their relationship.
