When you were talking about screenwriting, I get that same feeling of 'if I can't give it all of my attention then I can't give it any' lol about writing (writing a book tho). I had to have the same 'girl, the world doesn't work that way' at myself, but it can be hard lol. Excited for the varied vlogs and Evelyn and Friends! Sounds like a good plan. And I really like the idea of focusing on feelings rather than accomplishments at the end of the year. I'll have to think of some tbh!

Let me just say I am here for it all!!!!! I started following Evelyn after watching her on another channel. I lived for her commentary, movie reviews, and natural hair care tips. Now I absolutely love the smack yo lip segment. By chance would there be any possibility that you could bring back the movie reviews????

I haven’t even watched the video yet but just seeing your post prompted me to literally punch my fist into the air. This video is coming right on time.

This was really interesting! In a lot of ways i'm in the exact opposite place in my life. I've spent years striving and goal setting in every way I could possibly ever think of and contributing and connecting to the people around me. And all it left me feeling was severely burnt out, angry, and traumatised. So as a more Type A person (of the Virgo persuasion), my lesson has actually been to try LESS lol. To take things as they come and see where things go instead of trying to control everything. I feel like after many violent burn outs, even when I tried to purse smaller 'manageable' goals, life is really telling me ''Don't set goals. Pay attention to your circumstances, and your needs, and understand that you are in crisis and literally cannot afford to do anything other than work on maintaining your own basic survival (eating, hygiene, basic self care etc).' It feels selfish and wasteful and it goes agaisnt my fundamental desire to be striving and achieving and 'acting' upon things, but it also isn't a choice. Sometimes only 30% of what happens to you/what you can achieve is outside of your control, and sometimes it's 90%. i'm really in a 90% moment lol. At this moment I definitely feel more called to letting go. I feel like a big part of life is paying attention and being really honest about your current wants, needs, abilities and limitations, and holding yourself accountable to that - whether that means doing more, doing less, or doing things differently. You're clearly in a place where life is calling you to set goals and hold yourself accountable to feeling differently, and I think that's amazing. Hope you have a fruitful 2024!

I really relate to those goals. New years resolutions usually feel icky to me but the idea of taking notice and setting intentions to plan for how I want to feel sounds doable and worthwhile.

I just love everything you do. Every time I watch an Evelyn video, I laugh, I think, and find myself vehemently nodding and saying "mmhmm". How I want to feel this year: more in charge of my own life. I had my daughter 2 years ago, which among all the positives, has really floored me in other ways. Things I'm trying to do to feel more in charge of my life: 1. pursue a new career (done being a classroom teacher), 2. train for a mini-mini-mini triathlon (we're talking MINI), and 3. do all the therapy!!

Crazy, just yesterday I did my vision board and goals and rewatched your new years resolution videos from 2019 for inspiration!

I definitely feel you on having a hard time pivoting! For me, it's really hard to gain traction in the first place so having to drop and move to something else is even harder. I have some bigger goal "ideas" that I want to accomplish by the end of the year, but I'm breaking everything down by doing weekly goals. One of my end of the year goals is to go to the gym regularly so my weekly goals are usually like "go to the gym three times this week." I really like the feelings though! It's a really nice way of thinking about what I want to accomplish by the end of the year without the pressure of naming it so I don't feel disappointed if I didn't accomplish The Thing

Thank you for sharing this! Pivoting is something I struggle with and it leaves me paralyzed in indecisive "I don't know what to do" land which, as you pointed out, is in fact making a decision. I'm just putting one foot in front of the other and reminding myself that I don't have to walk into the tree branch that just popped up out of nowhere.

By the end of the year I want to feel more connected. I’m finally coming out from depression and I’m just kinda in orbit feeling everything and being happy about being alive again. So I’m ready for everything to feel more integrated.

This is video is soooooo incredibly well timed, thank you Evelyn. I also just removed myself from a job in a notoriously abusive but well paying industry lmao. I have been trying to figure out what I'm gonna do next, and have been flirting with actually pursuing my goals vs just getting another job in the same industry to say that I have it and continue on with my lifestyle.... this feels like kismet. I similarly gave myself a year because I was like "a year is gonna pass whether or not I act, so... what am I gonna do about it" -- basically the same as your feelings about how not choosing is technically also making a choice, just passively lmao. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us this year!

Also, as a fellow Leo, I feel like we never get credit for how strategic we be!! I love how you melded strategy with feeling. Winning, but make it heart centered! What’s more Leo than that?

And the fear of failing HELL the fear of trying is really coming for me. But at the end of the year, I want to feel like I’ve made a handful of self development decisions that I will be happy to take into the new year. Whatever stage I’m at with them at that point.
