This episode slightly irritated me because they all spoke in code and made her believe that a weekly grade was going to be on her permanent record.

It is so true high school is a lot more work than primary school it is way harder to get good grades. I am a sophomore btw

Not true. Because I graduated high school 12 years ago with a C+ average. Because there is nothing wrong with that.

I find this so odd because when I was going to high school, the weekly test and assignments only went in as like a basic grade that could easily be changed with the next assignment and or test (unless it was a unit test then yea, then you had to set up an appointment to take a re-test) hence it wasn’t until the end of the semester/year before finals that it would all go in as an average with witch a c or b could count as a pass if it was above a certain average alongside being above the 90-95% attendance rate(aside from excused absence’s with a doctors note,Covid cases, and minimum tardies for all of your classes) in order to be exempted from finals witch was a thing they did. they even allowed students to turn in extremely late work just to raise there grade before everything had to be put into the system (the teachers gave us lots of chances before everything went in before a certain specified date so that they could inform us of everything well before the finals so people could study should they not have been exempted, even allowing for corrections on tests),the finals were just to recover if the grade average wasn’t sufficient enough to be considered passing(witch if one was to also fail a final(s) you’d have to talk to a counselor in witch one would be given two extra opportunities to pass again, otherwise you’d get held back and have to redo the year). It was the grade average or finals + the grade average that typically determined the final grade (hence the final transcript/permanent record when applying to college for evaluation) and as for the state test, they were just to see if the concepts a student learned were actually, learned (it was considered a rainbow graph average) in a way that they can measure were you are and how you can improve (witch usually resulted in counselor meetings and schedule changes to meet certain standards: witch included if a person had special accommodations) not to mention that they did a meeting around the spring semester to check how everything is going, how to improve, and basically do like a “this is the progress you’ve made, and these are the goals we’ve made for you” (that would be altered in accordance to you’re progress thus far) if this is different for other people know that this is what was typically done for me (went to PISD/doesn’t know the New York school system) so take it with a grain of salt if you will
