In this ArcGIS Pro tutorial I will show you how to use the Align Edge tool to align features in your editable layers. This tool is a bit more interactive for each gap, it gives you control over which lines or edges move.

I've been using this tool for 4 years and just discovered that if you hold down the control key while selecting the line, it will offer to align to the farther line. By default it tries to align to the closest line and that's not always what you want.

Thanks! When playing with this tool, I noticed that I deleted some boundaries completely, and luckily, I could just control Z, but it was a shock. I was playing with blocks data, and I decided to replace the overly edited blocks, which was necessary in the long run.

@@GISChops I asked you to help me clip a logo recently. I tried several things, but I was able to make a circle in PowerPoint, and fill it with the pic. It saved as a png. It was very crisp, and nice!! Now I can use it anywhere, and it sizes well.

Have you had any issues with topology drastically slowing down your map after aligning more than a few edges? It became almost unusable after about 10 minutes.
@GISChops2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t. But I use map topology very rarely. I wonder if saving periodically, then turning off map topology then back on again would clear the memory cache that it occupies?
@curtistyler99912 жыл бұрын
One thing to check is your cache amount in Project>Display. If the cache is more than a gig I clear it and that seems to help.
@mattbeal82312 жыл бұрын
@@GISChops Yeah. Closing Pro entirely and reopening the map seems to help. I've never bothered to submit a ticket to ESRI because I too use it fairly infrequently, but I do on occasion come across a layer from before my time that needs a mass cleanup.

@@curtistyler9991 Interesting. I was not familiar with that. I will keep that in mind next time. Thank you!
