Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

11 жыл бұрын

Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This was an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

Cliffe never actually explains why Hoodie's argument about the arbitrariness of Cliffe's beliefs is so offensive, he simply claims it is, and uses a bunch of synonyms of offensive. He then goes on to say that Hoodie has no way of knowing that Cliffe is Xtian just because he grew up in US, completely ignoring the actual argument about arbitrariness.

Dear fellow, you may be surprised that JESUS (Christianity) may have gotten to Africa before Europe or The Whites. At least CHRISTIANITY spread to Africa and Europe at the same time; that's what happened at Pentecost (See Acts 2). Also being African or black is what our kidnappers had lead us to believe we are, when in reality our identity is in Christ, we are all made in his likeness and image. Race is a social construct. It’s part of the curse we have been put under for our disobedience and rejection of God. We are the true Israelites, but still that is not our identity. Just an explanation to why we suffer the way we do in America. Put your faith in Christ that he was sent by God to bleed and die on the tree to take the punishment of our sins so that we may be forgiven and live in eternal life with him in heaven. Don’t identify with what American says. God Bless you brother.

You totally missed the point on how judgmental that argument is…he pretty much said cliffe and everyone else in the world are the mindless products of their parents and environment when in reality that isnt true at all…kids rebell all the time against their environment and their parents especially as they get older and start to use their own mind to think through things, which then leads then to go down different paths from their parents teachings & wishes. And then the kid had the nerve to say he’s right while cliffe is wrong. I agree Cliffe shouldn’t have reacted in such an angry way like he did, but nuntheless it doesnt take away from the fact that the kid was spouting nonsense left and right, even the audience was getting involved a couple times because he was saying jibberish

@@jayjay-hm4ns The young man’s arguments fall where they do based on their own merit. The comments from the audience are their opinions too but don’t make him wrong. I stand by what I said and don’t think I missed the point. The young man was just bringing up a statistic that people tend to be of the faith of their parents. Dying doesn't have to hurt. Suffering is getting fit in the realm of tough machismo. The minute one really sincerely cries to God for relief from suffering, He hears & answers. To keep on proudly choosing suffering is to be a fool. We're here to learn that evil is bad.

At time 21:14 Cliffe you advised the young man to not listen to some preacher, et al... the Bible says, Rom 10:14-15 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!

Because at that time, they didn’t have the Gospels which makes hearing the word of God so easily accessible these days. They had the Old Testament, and then the Apostles would preach the Gospel creeds and teachings of Christ verbally before the New Testament was written and organized.

Actually no, I totally agree with you. I've heard people say what I mentioned and they used King Saul as an example. I haven't studied enough to know if it's a real thing. It seems possible to pervert one's own mind enough to make it more difficult to turn to God.

@ 11:58 Cliffe demonstrates his incredible dishonesty and hypocrisy. He reacts to Hoodie's argument, which Cliffe himself has used (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hZmhjL1l156XXXU.htmlm53s), with such righteous indignation. It's clear that Cliffe was getting tired of Hoodie not reacting to Cliffe's lame arguments like his regular victims, and decides he needs to turn up the heat, pretend take offense and gets aggressive in order to win the argument. What an asshole.

It's just a choice and I believe, 10 times out of 10, that everyone would make a different choice on what to do in that situation. That doesn't make any choice more or less moral then the other and that doesn't prove that morality is subjective.

Did you even read the question? I added "for whatever reason your own body would suffice." And of course the situation is unlikely... but that does not mean you cannot determine which action is immoral. So I ask again, if the ONLY choices are killing 10 children or 1 child, which is more moral?

at 6:00 ... it is not relative as "taste". A better analogy is that is like: "i prefer to drink thee over drinking ink". Not because it is absolute "that thee is absolutely objectivly better then ink in an abstract way", but because we understand how bodies function...
@1godonlyone119
@1godonlyone119 9 жыл бұрын
You are referring to an objective body of knowledge in order to justify your silly subjective belief system, and you're too dumb to realize that you're only really helping the moral objectivist position in so doing.
@PGBurgess
@PGBurgess 9 жыл бұрын
That 'objective body of knowlegde' is based on silly 'subjective experience'. It is considered to be objective because it -at least - seems to relate to patterns in reality that are independent of our experience. So it only supports the possition that there is a real world with physical properties of which we can learn certain things. The claim that this can only be so if it was created in this way by a god does not follow from it.. and it is this claim that is supposed to be supported..

Hey Cliffe, I haven't watched the video yet... but I wanted to say to you, when discussing morality, it's actually better not to even say that it's a matter of absolute vs relative morality. I've discussed with many atheists about it, and obviously relative morality is self-refuting and ridiculous. No one can live it out... BUT... the point is, morality doesn't even rationally exist in a naturalistic worldview. Why? Because it can't be accounted for.

This can be done for both sides and you know it. People can justify insane things with very good arguments for it. We are equal yet your opinion is superior to another's. No matter what you say you do have to accept that in that vein, you may have a moral absolute, but another person will have another, one that's opposite. Is your's superior? I'd say not.

If you say you believe in something and do not practice it, do you believe in it? I'm not saying Christians don't make mistakes, it is a process which takes time and discipline. Besides the end point is not becoming a perfect person but being reunited to God and that is when wholeness is achieved.

Wow now that was a powerful video, thanks for linking me. One of my thoughts though is that it conflicts what Cliffe says here. If killing an innocent child is never moral then what the father did here is not moral, and what god did is not moral. Perhaps morals cannot be as objective and absolute as Cliffe makes them out to be?

He just said that "you can't be that arrogant that you believe that your moral systems are right and everyone else's is wrong" first off, that's literally cliffs and all Christians themselves believing Christ is the only way leading to all other religions will not lead you to heaven. He also said it's judgemental of him to say that if he were not born in America than he would not be Christian. So don't you think it's judgemental of god and Christ to punish you just because of your beliefs. Just because you don't believe in him you don't go to heaven
