From May 1989, Glen Campbell & Steve Wariner jam on their guitars--the song is "Jerry's Breakdown", thanks to W Reid for that!

Glen had his own TV show, so he invited a lot of superb guitar players to appear. And there was usually a duet. And you'd say to yourself, I don't think Glen Campbell (who was more known as a singer) will be able to keep up with his guest. And inevitably, Glen outplayed the guest.

Before his singing career began.....& tv show, ect......he was an highly in-demand session musician in L.A. for years. He even replaced Brian Wilson in the Beach Boys for a while. He played on countless hits too numerous to mention. So he took a backseat to no one! He was that good! One of a kind.

@@oldbloke100 I hear this a lot, guitar players say can't read music, clapton, John mayer and loads I can't thinkof right now...I'm assuming you/they mean can't read sheet music? I'd say that pretty common?

Two great guitarist. Jerry's breakdown written for guitar. Why all the commercial background? Listen to Chet/Jerry doing it just with guitars. mos60
@kellyjohnson53607 жыл бұрын
well, it was a tv show but the real crime was the clueless camera man that didn't notice when Steve was playing a solo!
@mosrite607 жыл бұрын
Steve is rather a guy who is in background for some reason. he is an amazing guitarist who played with Chet his mentor. For sure it is hard to ahead of these two. Great stuff. mos60
@kellyjohnson53607 жыл бұрын
Yeah.. but Steve is the fourth, often forgotten CGP. Chet himself really only awarded that designation to Steve, Jerry, and Tommy Emmanuel. Muriel Anderson was sort of mentioned by Chet once but never really deemed in a ceremony. Paul Yandell, Chet's sideman for around 25 of his last years, was awarded one by his group, after Chet has passed but I don't think anyone would ever argue the award for Paul!
@mosrite607 жыл бұрын
Glen should have received CGP. Overall a better player than Tommy IMO. It seems that Chet may have been somewhat political at times. Not sure how he based his CGP on. Yes Jerry most certainly. Maybe Steve. But hey, Roy Clark, Glen etc were outstanding guitar players no matter what Chet said. Their success proves it. But there was there other young guy from Florida. I seen once on Hee Haw who was amazing. He died early. mos60

Two elegant gents, playing guitar like today was their last day on Earth. What’s more, Wariner is every bit as good a player as Campbell. There is a mutual respect here that cannot be matched. Times sure have changed... Campbell and Wariner playing guitars together and warming hearts along the way. In contrast today, we have Nicki Minaj calling Miley Cyrus a bitch... in front of an awards ceremony audience. I only mention these pigs in the same breath as Campbell and Wariner to highlight the difference between then and now. The digital era is a plague-ridden mess, full of undignified, unintelligent, and mostly untalented creeps undeserving and unworthy of success.

Sorry, you are WRONG. Glen Campbell a true amazing talent. An all time legend. Kids these days are TALENTED! There are insane players, players that Glen would only love and give praise too. Do you need some links you ol’ curmudgeon?

Wtf ...how? Seriously...how? Is glen just playing scales? Or just playing what feels right without thinking 'it's this key so I'll play this scale and this scale' or just memorised? What is the thinking behind his playing??
