I've heard this song Practically my entire life but it was until recently did I realized how good it really is, especially when Lew DeWitt the composer of the song and original Statler brother sings it.... but this was a fun version also

OMFG, This is the first time I've heard this. Campbell and Dewitt are twins. I couldn't tell the difference. I wish I could hear Campbell singing Bed of Roses with them

On The Glen Campbell Music Show Glen's band was facing center stage (off to Harold's right) with the audience on either side.....The banjo player is Carl Jackson (Glen's bandleader at the time)

Glen Campbell is another performer that would've fit in perfectly with the Statler Brothers. Johnny Cash would've been the same way.

Cash gave them their start. They were part of his road show and TV show for 8 1/2 years before they went out on their own. They provide backup vocals on MANY of Cash's albums.

Jimmy Fortune had just replaced Lew Dewitt--the writer of this song--and was brand new to the Statler Brothers when this performance was recorded.

@@thejoshsings894 and Jimmy's a much more prolific songwriter. The Statlers never had a no. 1 hit until 1978. When Jimmy joined, they had a no. 1 song for each of the next 3 years, all written by Jimmy.

@@edwardknoch4987 All written by Jimmy and all sung by Jimmy on the lead. Plus a couple of other top-10's, like the epic "More Than a Name On a Wall." Jimmy kept them on country radio right up until the George and Garth era blew all the old-timers out.
