Great seeing what goes on 'behind the scenes' and the making of a good drum kit.

Glen is so right! I know so many musicians that say racks are a waste of money space and take too much time. But they're so wrong! I wish I could afford something crazy awesome like this one though. Nice job!

I would give up all of my stands for a decent rack.
@crimsun71868 жыл бұрын
+Greg Fawcett Don't have a drum tech. Now picture having to lug, assemble and disassemble the whole thing yourself. It's less a matter of money and more a matter of practicality, which is also why 99% of non-rockstar musicians use small kits with only a few cymbals..

+Crimson Sunrise I find myself taking just as much time setting up as other drummers using stands, sometimes faster. It's all thanks to memory locks you don't have to keep adjusting once you put it on its in the right place 100% of the time

Greg Fawcett For a rack like the one you see in the video? That would take at least 2 hours to set up.

I may be old school but I still play a 12" 13" rack Tom setup because I hate going to a small 10" from my snare drum. I believe the 13" Tom is going to make a comeback.

Only 94 memory locks? I challenge you to do a drum kit that needs at least 100 memory locks.

Looks like a John Aldridge build.

That's a cool looking, and functional, rack. The only thing I'm not keen on the the amount of hardware joining those three tiers of curved bars to the vertical supports. Obviously I realise that all those clamps are needed, but it makes those sections look very cluttered. Brent, did you ever think about removing the T-handle wing nuts from the rack clamps and replacing with simple hex nuts, just to cut down on the amount of chrome metal "spilling out" of the curved sides? Like, anything that doesn't need to be quickly released could have hex nuts instead, locked in and just left as is.

WHEN the hell did Sobel start playing DW's?? He's a MAPEX guy!! He should be playing 24" kicks.

Anyone else bothered by the quietness in the video? You'd think they'd be jammin some tunes or something.
@gary1chester5 жыл бұрын
Some chrome coloured bass drum hoops would really work here I think

how pricey would that rack be? the price for my 2 sided build up was about 700€...and i havn't had 1/3 of the stuff you used on his rack...

Hey Brent! It's all good and cool for a build like that when you have access to a warehous full of gear. But what to do when you haven't? Chances are you by some stuff you don't need or the wrong parts for the build.
@GibraltarHardware8 жыл бұрын
Hi Anders, Thanks for the comment! I know it's difficult for most drummers to do this type of a build because they don't have the same access to gear like I have. My point in doing a video like this is to give players ideas on different ways to use our products. I don't expect that most players will attempt something this large, because it's way over the top for the average gigging drummer. Plus, I enjoy getting to see how things like this are done, and like to pass it on to all our viewers as well.

+GibraltarDIY I understand the purpose. However, for a guy (me) who grew up watching Wild Mick Browns (Dokken) and Scott Rockenfields (Queensryche) massive builds, It's kinda dull and boring that my chanxes of having a cool "cage" is somewhat limited. I play doublebass but I don't want, for instance, Gibraltar's doublebass racksystem. It's, imo, boring and ugly. If you dream of a cool build, like the one for Glen, you don't want a curved bar with three legs. It's just not working. At least not for me. Almost all rack manufacturers use the marketing-"trick" that only one's imagination sets the boundaries. In real life though, it's several other aspects: money, avaliability, knowledge from the dealers, no of items in stock etc.

Wouldn't it be more practical to built it on actual risers so you're sure that it does split perfectly in two?
@slayerbob2133 жыл бұрын
The tape they used is way cheaper than building a riser, 8 ft is 8 ft whether its a riser or a square marked out with tape

Some people are giving out about the practicality of these builds. And yes in ways they are right, but we all know, standing in the pit, seeing this beast in action, everyone loves it. Steve Smith hasn't used a double bass setup since leaving Journey. He's returned this year and is now back using double bass, why? Because it looks awesome on a stadium stage. That's probably between 3 and 6 grand. Probably 9-11 grand in drums and probably 3-4 in cymbals.
@crazyjoedavola54304 жыл бұрын
@@TempoDrift1480 - Yeah, not an 16 grand kit....c'mon man. It's not made of gold and fucking diamonds. 1 to 2 for the rack, 3 for the drums and 1 to 2 for the cymbals and maybe 1 for the hardware
@nikkosdinno3124 жыл бұрын
Wizzle no way the cymbals are 3-4 grand. They’re Sabians - $2,500 tops. The most expensive cymbal there is the ride and it’s about $400.00. The DW drums with all those pieces I would say it’s close 9 grand IF they’re the collectors edition. The hardware is probably about $2000.00.
