5 жыл бұрынOn the edges of large thunder storms a glider pilot can find amazing lift and huge sink if they dare to ride the clouds around the rain and lightning. Enjoy a few minutes flying around such a storm over the Utah mountains in a high performance glider ASW-27B. Oh yeah, and my landing... I hit my spot but was jerking the stick around WAY too much. Eye cleKid216 it's not uncommon at all, though. In fact it's the norm. Why would he be yelling in a nice quiet cockpit? What you may be picking up on that seems unfamiliar is the lack of engine and propeller noise and vibration, and also how in a prop plane some pilots and/or passengers might tend to yell to be heard, although with a decent headset and mic that's usually unnecessary. Check out some other folks in gliders on here, you'll likely see the same thing.

Soaring is totally amazing! I started my aviation "career" as a skydiver, switched to soaring for several years and switched back to skydiving... flying with birds connect human beings to the Mother Nature like nothing else, I really miss those magical moments :) Thank you Bruno for a great video!

It's because everything perpendicular from him is so far away. When you are riding in a car, close things seem to move by rapidly as you pass them. A tree or house by the road starts out ahead of you. It comes up fast and, in a few moments, it’s far behind you. If you can see a faraway building or a mountain from a moving car, notice how long it takes for that object to pass by. Out West, you can sometimes ride toward mountains that never seem to get any closer.

I get scared of flying in them in ultralights lol. Funny I once flew a high wing I was currently training at the time and we had the ATC Alerting us of a supercell, we headed back I was scared shitless!!! That storm lasted the rest of the day and I was happy to be inside my house and not in a high wing haha.

Man, I would be nervous as hell flying around the Wasatch Front in any aircraft. The amount of air traffic in this area is crazy. I waterfowl hunt out in the Willard Bay area, and there isn't a 60 second interval in any given day when there aren't airplanes roaring overhead -- and Willard Bay is a pretty good distance from the Salt Lake airport. But the view is incredible. The Wasatch Mountains and the valleys contained within are absolutely gorgeous.

Just like that hawk was doing. Birds of prey are great gliders and need a lot of height. The more height, the more potential energy for diving, just like a fighter plane.

Hey I have a question. So the glider has no engine at all? How do gain altitude if no engine? What if u stall? What if there is no wind?

@@Kurumifan15 well gliders use rising "bubbles" of hot air to gain altitude which is the reason why the best time to fly a glider is during a hot summer day since there will be lots of rising air. If you stall and your at a low altitude then you're screwed but if you stall at a high altitude the glider will just fall, gain speed and therefore escape the stall and If there's no wind then you can still glide perfectly fine. Hope this helps :)
