At the age of 26, Denis was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, the most common and most aggressive form of brain cancer - and today his cancer is being stopped in its tracks thanks to a clinical trial that is supported by the Cancer Foundation.

Glio is a beast... not many if anyone gets away from it when diagnosed... I remember the Dr telling us as my dad was diagnosed that they call it the Terminator cause it just doesn't stop... Glad he got 8 more years of life, 7 more than my dad. Glio took my father in exactly a year after surgery/diagnosis.

In 2014 my husband, just like Denis, had frontal lobe baseball sized tumor. Took 2 years to recover from surgery and return to work. But had 3 weeks of raIdiation and on chemo pills for 2 1/2 years. He had optune for about 6 years. His last MRI in March 2024 looks great. Miracles do happen, keep the faith!

I lost my dear daughter Rebecca to Glioblastoma in 2009. She was 22. She undertook similar treatments to Denis. She survived for 2 and a half years after treatment. This was in Ottawa. I pray that one day this terrible cancer won’t be an automatic death sentence.

Update- recently stopped using the Optune due to being stable for >2 years. Now 3 years since diagnosis, I'm still going strong! Looking through the other comments makes me feel both extremely grateful to be doing as well as I'm doing, and reminds me of the necessity of fundraising for research and spreading awareness of this dreadful disease. Stay strong everyone!

Dennis, I am so happy to hear that you are doing well. What an amazing story you have and I'm hoping my father will someday be able to speak about his survival story as well. He is 65 and was just diagnosed with glioblastoma yesterday and I am just sick over this whole thing. He had surgery to remove the tumor and they were able to get most of it, but they said that it will grow back fairly quickly. I hope that when he starts treatment something like this will be available to him. I am just not able to accept that he will most likely not live much longer and hearing stories like yours definitely gives me hope. Stay strong and please keep us updated :)

My younger brother got this bastard of a disease when he was 30. He had surgery and radio therapy and a little bit (3-4 weeks) of chemo. He was clear for 3.5 years (scans every 3 months for first 2 years) and then it came back. He had, had an CT scan in November 2013 which was "CLEAR" and by January 2014 (3 months later), it had grown to the size of a tennis ball! He had surgery again, but it had started to return within 6 weeks. He then used AVASTIN (which slows the growth) and lasted about 1.5 years. He was 35 when he passed. Things that he did 1. He went vegetarian 2. Juiced daily (google Fat Sick and Nearly Dead) 3. Exercised regularly 4. Tried canabis oil for last 18 months

I hope your still fighting, Dennis. I noticed memory loss in my incredibly sharp mum 4 weeks ago. She went to the doctors and was diagnosed with a brain tumour, told we could debulk 90-95% of it by one the UKs leading neurosurgeons. 2 weeks later, she never came out her biopsy. She has an extremely vascular grade 4 Glioma and there was a bleed in the biopsy. The pressure on the brain has left her in a coma. She is battling on, after 3 days she woke slightly, opened her eyes sometimes and nodded when I asked if she loved me. Today has been horrendous, she had seizures all day and was finally confirmed in the biopsy results that’s it’s the evil Glioma. I’m hoping she passes peacefully soon. The only silver lining is she never had to head the diagnoses. She was 63 and just retired from a long career of helping others - she was now going to retire and travel the world with her friend. To anyone reading this involved in cancer research, please continue. Cancer is the most sickening and crippling disease.

Kimberly Crouch Hi Kimberly, she suggested a brain bleed during the biopsy, which pretty much killed her. We were told she was in a state of dying within 24 hours of the surgery, and that the brain had suffered too much from the bleed (they tried to drain the blood, but more and more kept coming). I remember they graded level of consciousness, and she was at the lowest level. To their amazement, for a period of 2 days, 2 weeks on, she woke up very sporadically and replied to questions such as do you love me. Eventually, after 3 weeks she passed. Even in a state of almost 0 consciousness, she refused to pass with me and my brother in the room. I am not in the least religious, but her passing was very spiritual for many reasons, she woke up from surgery with a love heart on her right hand when they removed the cannula (which in theory a nurse could plant, but it would be completely unaccepted to do so). She woke up and survived for 3 weeks despite the doctors telling us she would never wake again and would be gone in 48 hours, despite being null by mouth. She was an amazing women and a fighter and protected us right to the very end. On the penultimate night, it was so evident she was going so I didn't leave to go home that night and slept in the room with her - she refused to go, and it wasn't until I did 40 hours no sleep I left and told the nurse to call me as soon as it was happening. I got a call at 2 am that morning and rushed back to hospital - she had passed 10 minute before I got there.

Hi Denis! I’d love another update. The optune is now FDA approved and covered by insurance. God bless Novocure! My dad is one year post diagnosis and wears optune for 18hours/day. It’s been a journey to find the right time on-time off ratio to decrease the occurrence of skin breakdown, because as you’re well aware nothing associated with cancer can ever be easy! Your story gives me hope, my father was 58 at diagnosis and extremely active like yourself. I know we have no control over this fucked up world, but damn I would give anything to have my dad around for a few more healthy years. All of my love to you! ♥️

GBM has made my mom's mussels weaker and her arm is basically dead. She had to lose a bone flap to remove a infection with other pieces of the turmour. Her first sergon was only in training so he removed way too much brain tissue than what it was supposed to be. She's okay now and her arm is slowly coming back alive. But every month her chemo sounds heavier and heavier it's really scary. I will always pray for my mom.

I’m “lucky” enough to have a kind of glioblastoma, called an ependymoma. I have a recurrence for the 3rd time. When I was diagnosed, I initially had surgery initially, then, radiation for a recurrence. Now, I have another tumor, and I have yet to talk to my team about which way to treat my cancer. My neurosurgeon let me know that my radiation therapist is suggesting this technology also for treatment. I would love the ideas of the internet in this situation.

My husband died in 2012 after 15 months. He husband the best surgeons (2) on the west coast and the best neuro radio oncologist and best chemo at the time. His main tumor was in a very bad area of the brain….deep inside hugging the corpus colosseum. Not good. We still miss him to this very day. +Nadya Earls Hi Nadya! Yhank you very much for asking. Its already that long ago that i even forgot i commented there. Im still ok, had many encounters with hospitals and doctors since my first operation because a scar did never close and absorb a clear liquid. Now after at the fifth operation they figured out that a little peace of plastic tube from the tumor removing operation was left over under the skin. So with removing that i hope i find finally my freedom from hospitals. Although i have to do mri tests anyway every 3 months. -So the tumor stayed in its size allways. Thank you and best wishes!

God Bless you and keep you!! I saw this company on CNBC and invested in it, not only to make money, but I felt it was a new technology that could save lives and I pray its successful . I sincerely don't care about the money but I do hope that brain cancer and pancreatic cancer can be cured or arrested through this technology.

Hello.

+thihal123 Hi! I am doing phenomenally well! Enjoying life to the fullest - In the past 2 months, I did the white-water rafting trip in the Grand Canyon (that I spoke of) and climbed 4 mountains. MRIs continue to be spotless, I have all the energy I had pre-surgery and then some. A lot of my time is now spent towards supporting fundraising efforts for various charities and non-profit organizations that support brain tumour and brain cancer patients, whether through advancing research or offering programs that aim to improve physical or mental well-being and quality of life. A cure for this terrible disease must be found. Too many of us are affected. I feel for every commentator on this video. For those of you who have been asking about the availability of the device, it is now commercially available in many countries (it is now called the "Optune"). Sadly, Canadians are still waiting for approval from Health Canada. Here's hoping it comes soon. Consult your physicians for more information and to see if it is right for you, and keep in mind that my clinical trial involved the use of this device IN CONJUNCTION WITH temozolomide (the prescribed chemotherapy). It has shown to help primarily when it is in combination with another treatment. www.optune.com/

+Denis Raymond Hi Denis, your video was very inspiring. My mom was recently diagnosed with GBM and we are in Canada. I am wondering if you have any suggestions on how to get the optune instead of waiting for the several years it's still going to take to get approved here. Are they still doing clinical trials out in Ottawa? Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for this video!!!

Hi again! Sadly, I recently reached out to Novocure who informed me that they need to go through the proper channels (aka Health Canada) to make the device commercially available in Canada. I have heard of the possibility of purchasing the device in the US and simply bringing it over the border with you, but I have no information as to how that works (you will need a steady supply of electrode stickers and medical tape as well, which I had supplied to me by a technician who visits me twice a month). I'd recommend contacting Novocure and directly asking about this possibility. Sadly, know you'll be facing huge costs (I've heard that in the states, the device costs upwards to $2100 a month). The clinical trial is no longer accepting new patients. Hope this information helped!

In that journey I found out how many people are affected by this disease and I feel for everyone too. You are right cure must be found as soon as possible. Wish you the best.

To everyone reading this please turn to Jesus He loves you and want to save you, Only Jesus can truly heal, He is the God of miracles and the bible tells us in Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, I seen God do amazing things in my life and in the life's of people I know, There is nothing impossible to God its as simple as asking Him to show you He is REAL, and if you really want to know He will answer you, I know this because it happened to me,
