Global Debut: Honda Class 8 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck Concept

Ай бұрынHonda will begin a demonstration project in the U.S. featuring its Class 8 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck Concept, powered by three new Honda fuel cell (FC) systems that are now in mass production at Fuel Cell System Manufacturing, LLC, in Brownstown, Michigan.
Honda has identified four core domains for the initial utilization of its new FC system: fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), commercial fuel cell vehicles, stationary power stations and construction machinery. As the company expands its hydrogen business to achieve its global goal of zero environmental impact, including carbon neutrality for all products and corporate activities by 2050, Honda is actively seeking business collaborations to help bring these hydrogen fuel cell solutions to market in North America.

The main use for for OTR trucks will be for drayage. There is a mass effort underway to put the majority of long haul on rail.

Only the fuel cell system is Honda; the base truck is a Peterbilt 579EV.

This video is a little misleading. It does show a hydrogen box on the back of the cab but never mentions anything about it. It does show a hydrogen engine which is not in this vehicle. This vehicle has an EV powertrain already from the factory. So are they using the hydrogen to replenish the high voltage batteries. It doesn't mention it. Just a marketing video for people who don't know better I guess. Just like the Nikola EV going down pikes peak with no powertrain.
