Great video, I was trying to explain a lot of that to my wife as we watched an exciting TDF stage finish. Maybe do another one on team tactics, split between one day races and also stage races.

I think some more about tactics, especially surrounding breakaways would round this up nicely. To explain how a breakaway works, who will work and who will sit and why would be important for a noob to understand. Tied into this: Why will one team work on the front of the peloton (whether it is to catch a break or whether it is for other reasons) and why another team may not be interested to waste any cornels. And lastly the differences between teams, with some having contenders for the GC, KOM or point/sprint jersey while others may "only" be after a stage win. Last thing that comes to mind but perhaps most important: the many differences between one day races, especially the spring classics and the grand tours.

The thing I wish someone had explained to me when I was younger is that, for races like the Tour de France, every day is its own little stage, and you can have a new winner every day BUT you can win the *overall* race and never win a stage. Although commonly an overall winner will stamp their authority and claim at least one stage, it's not necessary to do so, and you can still win the whole race. And conversely, the sprinters you see claiming stage glory will finish hours behind the overall winner. It's cumulative time.

Lets be honest we all love cycling videos this is just what I need to get it going the blood I love it. I always watch these before I go out and get my body moving. I love when I always watch one of these, and then put up my heavy playlist I love like Delta Parole and then I just go haaaaard!!!! Tactic hasnt let me down yet.

It's awesome that roadies look after each other. From the trails up in the hills we don't see that, us MTB guys look out for each other in the same way, if stuff goes wrong it might mean a gelling walk back or even life-changing injuries.

The most important thing for me as a newbie was, that bike races like the TDF is actually a *team sport*!!

So fun! Even with the Tour and Tirenno Adriatico on right now this video makes me excited for racing!

For some of newer and less experienced riders being behind someone who is "breaking wind" might not seem very pleasant or desirable.

That was most useful. However, I am still unclear about the TEAMS: I understand that there are different teams, presumably of a c ertain number of people, but within the team there is a hierarchy? That's where I get lost. I am enjoying watching cycling - erm, to see better weather... (Scotland rains a lot, sunshine is heartening). And yay the chipmunk!

I have a huge respecteto cyclists, being able to do a 150+ km stages like its nothing is one of the most badass achievements athletes can accomplish.

For those watching TIrreno-Adriatico 2020 it's more like Froome was signed up as super domestic for Woods for next season rather than other way around. ;-)

I did not know that the riders were avoiding wind gusts by riding so close behind one another, what a domestique is, and what the different shirt colors represented.

Great video! How about more videos on the history of different races, famous riders, interesting events that may have happened in previous years. Matt Clip In Stephens used to present some cracking videos.

Great video! I'd love to know more about the timing of races. What it means when such and such is x many minutes ahead, or when the breakaway group is y seconds ahead of the pack. There's a lot of timekeeping and related graphics that are superimposed on the screen when watching coverage of a pro-race. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN!?!? Also your camera operator goofed the lens-shade, NBD.

Hey GCN, you would make videos like this a whole lot more inclusive if you also included footage of women. It isn't a men's specific video! An image of the women's rainbow jersey is the exact same as the men's jersey. Women draft in races too, show a clip of them once in a while. Its a little thing. But it is so glaringly obvious when it is missing. You can do better.
