I’ve carried daily for around 12 years. 95% of the time I have carried a Glock. I have owned dozens of guns and appreciate all the great makers of fine firearms out there. I have a Staccato C2 and a Canik Mete SF, and have carried a Sig Legion, CZ PO7, FN 45, you name it, but my gen 5 G19 is my go to for edc. I like the shovel analogy. I work a physical job where tools are essential. You don’t notice a tool unless it distracts you from your work or just plain doesn’t perform. The Glock is just that, an excellent tool that won’t be outdated.

By far the best defense pistol I've owned over the years is my G19 gen 5 MOS. If I had to stand at the gates of Mordor with one pistol, it's going to be the G19. Sure, the trigger isn't as nice as a SA/DA trigger, but the tradeoff is that the G19 has everything you need and nothing you don't, and just runs no matter what.

Thanks for the honest take. Picked up a Gen 5 a few weeks ago to shoot at my buddy's rural outdoor range. Have not really been into guns, grew up with them but moved on. The Glock is my 1st pistol, a friend who is more knowledgeable about firearms recommended it. Sounds like he pointed me in the right direction. The videos on this channel are all excellent, have watched many to brush up on the basics before hitting the range, figuring if I go in with good habits my training and experience in general will go a lot better. I have 7,000 through my Gen 5 G19 MOS and I love that pistol. The last 700 or so rounds have been fired with the new Glock performance trigger which I definitely recommend that trigger. It's better than any other aftermarket Glock trigger I've tried and I've tried most of them. Gen 5 have a match grade barrel, testing shows there isn’t much on the table for accuracy vs other pistols. That front cut out has been removed on current production, as it was causing irritation for certain size hands At the end of the day, Glock uses a partially cocked striker versus a fully cocked as many others do. This makes them inherently safer than so many other striker fired guns. No concerns about drop safety or unintentional discharges

I don't have anything against Sig but trust my glocks to go bang every time you pull the trigger. I messed around with a lot of different mods, triggers, lighter springs, connector mods etc with hit and miss results (FTF's etc with the lighter striker). Now I just run a good afermarket trigger around 5lbs pull and 15lb recoil spring for less flip. Dead reliable sidearm. Glock perfection!

I recently bought the Glock 19 Gen 6. Total upgrade from all other gen's, as it's striker-fired, dependable, has front slide serrations, or maybe it doesn't. I forget! I love the fact that it has finger grooves on the rear of the grips! Who says Glock isn't innovative? The barrel is made of kryptonite, and the frame has a button that sings me bedtime lullabies when I'm ready for sleep. It's boxy, has a meh trigger, and the sights out of the box are crap. I just accept the fact that I'll need to spend at least another C note on sight upgrades though. Seriously, check the new Gen 6 out! It is truly innovative from all other Glocks. Glock perfection!

I'm with you on the G-19 being a superb carry platform, I recently retired after 33 years from Law Enforcement, when I started out way back in 1989 my agency issued 4" S&W model 10's, around 1992 we switched over to S&W 5943 DAO pistols, there were some 5903 & 6906's there too. In 2003 we made the switch over to Gen 3 Glocks, we had a choice of either the G-19 or G-17 me being a plainclothes Detective I opted for the G-19 for the ease of carry. I admit hands down that the G-19 was the best carry weapon that I've carried over the span of my career, very easy handling firearm, especially during the transition period from the S&W to the Glock platform. In the 19 years that I carried a G-19 professionally I've sent countless thousands of rounds down range with only a few malfunctions and even those were ammo related issues and not the gun itself. Now that I'm retired, I still use my "Old" duty issued G-19 as my daily EDC weapon. I made a few updates, I installed Trijicon HD sights, I swapped out the trigger with a G-17 trigger to get away from the ridges that are on the stock G-19 trigger.

The thing I like the best about Glock is that I don't need to send it to the factory for problems. I just look for a Glock Armorer in my area. They are school trained and fix it on the spot. I've never had a Glock malfunction only night sights put on. I have had light primer strikes from a dirty firing pin channel. I also found out aftermarket magazines are a waste of money. They don't last and are only good for malfunction drills.

I used a Glock 19 gen 5 MOS for about 5 years. Matches and range time I put close to 10,000 rounds through it according to Glock ID on my shooting log. The only thing issue I had was the sights slowly walking. I bought a sight tool and would adjust the sights over time. I just decided to replace with a new 19 Gen 5 MOS. I purchased different manufacture for the sights. I only think I had three or four jams. The jams were ammo related too. Very solid pistol and I recommend them. I like the fact that parts are available and cheap. The parts are easy to swap out too.

I sold my Canik and bought one of these, and having some regrets. The trigger is terrible compared to the Canik. And I got Glock knuckle after 200 rounds. The coating on the barrel showed some wear from the slide, which I don't care for. I bought and installed the $100 performance trigger. At 700 rounds, The Glock knuckle went away. I then decided to put the stock trigger back into the pistol and ran another 200 rounds. At 900 rounds, I can't tell or feel any difference in the triggers, so I left the stock trigger in. I'm at 1500 rounds with Zero malfunctions. I've grown to like this pistol a lot. I carry and shoot it well. Best of all, I can completely take it apart and put it back together, no gunsmith needed.

One thing of note. Older Glock factory mags, Gen 3 and older, will not work with Gen 4 and newer guns if the mag release button is switched to the right hand side. The newer mags have the cut outs for the mag catch on both sides, the Gen 3 and older only have it on the right side of the mag body. Granted this is typically only an issue for left handed shooters, but it’s worth mentioning.

We 10,000 round tested all available .40 S&W handguns some years ago. The Glock 22'sand 23's exhibited slide / frame separation between 6,000 and 8,000 rounds. Glock subsequently added locking block pins to all models which solved the problem. An interesting observation was that the Glock 17s and 19s did not experience that problem. One gentleman ran his Glock generation 1 to over 100,000 rounds without failure. I was therefore very surprised when the Gen 5 did not have the locking block pin! Apparently no problem with 9mm models, but what about the rest?

The Gen-5 .40 models have a heavier/wider slide and unlike the original Glock .40’s the Gen-4/5 have a dual recoil spring assembly. These were things Glock should have done originally when coming out with .40 models instead of just rechambering the 9mm for .40

Advertised as the largest gun store West of the Mississippi. And it was. Like being in gun heaven, anything you wanted. HK rifles, Gallis, FN-FAL's, Ar's, Mac 10's, all the toys. And then you know who took over. Havent stopped buying the Glocks, although I have had a couple that malfunctioned no matter what you did to correct the problem. Have G-36 I now carry and it would feed empty shells if I wished. Absolutely reliable and a big old barrel. Have couple Glocks in 9mm, but no matter how great the gun, it is only a 9mm. A good torso hit with a 45+p from Underwood ammo and its all over with, not so 9mm, thats why they give you those large mags......................lol
