Buying accessories for my Glock is much the same as the wife buying accessories for the house...….we both enjoy doing it, loads of enjoyment whether we need it or not. Lenny makes buying Glock accessories exciting, fun, entertaining and just makes us feel good about being in this wonderful hobby. All of my stock Glocks are capable of shooting better than my meager skills enable me to shoot but, with Glockstore enhancements I can daydream of shooting teeny tiny groups.

I only bought a Double Diamond conversion barrel. Because my 31 is a .357 sig. Which is expensive as hell to shoot at paper. So I grabbed 9mm conversion barrel. My stock glock barrel does NOT need to be replaced. It is perfect. It is usually the shooter that sucks.

"...and the lead is hard to remove." WHAT??? "Consistency is accuracy." WHAT??? "With a Glock barrel you'll shoot 5 inch groups." Lenny, if you are shooting 5 inch groups with a stock barrel then I've got news for you--it ain't the barrel!!! Last week I wanted to try the Glock 42. It was a stock gun, with no upgrade parts, save a extended mag release. A factory gun with a factory barrel. I shot 20 rounds and got a 4 inch group--at 30 YARDS!!! 5 inch groups my ass. There are a few things you can do to accurize the Glock, and I've learned most of them through time and HARD WORK. And the very LAST thing I would change is the barrel. I defy Lenny to shoot to such a high standard that he requires a better barrel. Look, I've been there. Take a good long, HONEST look at yourself. If you aren't shooting as well as you think you should, then take all that hard earned money that you'd spend on a barrel, or goodness knows what else, and spend it on QUALITY training. It's like golf. You get into it, self-taught, and you aren't doing so well so you go out and spend thousands of dollars on the absolute best clubs made. But they are designed to give an EXPERT just 1% more performance. And that's important if you are a professional golfer at the very apex of competitive golf. In that position just 1% might make the difference between winning and losing a crucial game. But let's be honest, I could have the best clubs known to mankind and Tiger Woods could have 3 clubs (a wood, a 9 iron and a putter) sold at K-Mart 20 years ago and recently acquired in a garage sale. What do you think will happen? Yeah, Tiger Woods is going to DOMINATE me all day long. The clubs don't make Tiger Woods a pro. It's learning from the best players out there who will spend some time teaching you to play better. And then practice, practice, practice. And, as with golf so go guns. You need to find a pro (or at least someone who knows the basics as taught in the NRA Pistol Instructor class) and listen carefully to them. Then practice, and when you are making ANY mistake, slow down and work through the problem. What did the instructor teach you about that? Work out those bad habits. And when you find someone better than you, see if they will give you some pointers. And be polite, humble, and thankful. I've often offered to assist someone who is struggling. Some are humble and listen to what I have to say, and do better. Others keep telling themselves that it's not them, it's the gun. If they will agree to it, I'll take their faulty gun and shoot the center of the target out with it. 99% of the time when people think it's the gun, not them, IT'S THEM!!! And most people have a LONG way to go before they need to worry about the accuracy of their guns. And when you get there, proceed slowly and carefully.

It’s a ‘gimmickly’ line thrown around to help sell aftermarket barrels. “Glock” reloaded brass is not an issue. I’ve reloaded 9mm spent casings fired through my Glock(S)..2 different pistols, with Hornady bullets. Resizing was NEVER an issue and there were ZERO problems feeding, firing or extractions. ANYTHING for a selling point. What he didn’t talk about (‘course THIS is a 2015 vid) was Glock going to the POLYGONAL rifling..and their “Marksman” barrels.

I'm in the process of dealing with the Glock Store about two 9mm barrels....Double Diamond...right now. Both had a failure to fire ( not unusual as I was using TulAmmo and IWI hard primer rounds) resulting in the slide being frozen and would not rack so as to eject the round. Gunsmith suggested returning to Glock but of course there was a live round in the gun. Finally got the round out of both Glock 17 and 34 at some consternation on the part of armorer. Glock Store is telling me that they cannot exchange as I purchased months ago and have shot it. We'll see........ Be careful with the ammo you shoot.

While everything said in this video is true, it is also true that operator skill, rather than weapon tolerances, is the greatest factor in accuracy. A skilled operator with a sloppy but reliable weapon will likely get better results than an unskilled operator with a more tightly machined weapon. How well would a tightly machined barrel work on a full auto G18?

Oh, Lenny! You have been a fount of knowledge up to this video. Are you saying the BARREL's tolerances are looser of the CHAMBER's tolerances are looser. Of course the chamber is looser but I do not believe the actual barrel tolerances are looser (plus its polygonal rifling.). Thus, the accuracy should not be decreased because of the increased CHAMBER tolerances. Please explain if I am incorrect.

Did I miss where aftermarket barrels usually require some fitting on the lugs and or hood? It's not just the tighter chamber that contributes to accuracy.
@coyotebrown2294
@coyotebrown2294 9 жыл бұрын
Rey Solis I've heard people say that while Glock's may benefit a tiny tiny bit by fitting of the lugs/hood, it is different than a 1911 and not nearly as important as in those type of designs. Not sure if it's due to the slidelock having upward pressure, the fact you don't have the tolerance stack issues of trying to build a barrel for a "1911" that could have come from a dozen different makers, or if they even knew what they were talking about to begin with ;) Maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

James SoutheastMO I'm not sure you get it. Go to the Bar-Sto site and look up Glock Barrels. They offer Semi Fit and Match Target barrels. Niether of them need chamber reaming. They need fitting in the area's I mentioned. The same for Wilson Combat, KKM and other quality barrel makers. Consistant lock up is going to help accuracy more than a tighter chamber alone.
@coyotebrown2294
@coyotebrown2294 9 жыл бұрын
I can tell you the TSD "unfitted" bbl I have from my 17 shoots groups about half the size of it's stock bbl. While I've not measured it, I know it's got a tighter chamber than the stock because I had to switch to Redding U dies to get my reloads to work with it. If your saying a Glock bbl must be fitted to improve accuracy, I have to disagree.

A LOT of us buy aftermarket barrels for the following reasons: First to be able to shoot cheap lead bullet ammo, whether handloaded or factory reloads. Secondly to have a barrel with an extended, threaded muzzle for supressor use. Also, factory Glock barrel ruins brass for reloading and can only be saved by a special die and even then have a shorter life

Well, the better the accuracy the lower the reliability... so if you shoot competition you want to get more accuracy but when you look for a self defense gun you should NEVER use an aftermarket barrel! So, Lenny, whya don't you do an accuracy comparison video? Put a Glock in a vice, use the same premium ammo with 3 diffrent brands and only switch the barrel. Then compare the groups you are getting at 25 yards. THAT would be interesting.

NONSENSE. An UNSUPPORTED CHAMBER or barrel is not one that is "looser" or necessarily less accurate. It is simply one where the FEED RAMP cuts into the chamber beyond the extractor groove of the case. This makes for a lower feed angle and more reliable feeding of flat nosed ammo, at the expense of not being able to withstand over pressure loads as well or as safely. The disadvantage is that it may blow up in your face and pop the magazine out if the case ruptures. But, it can be just as accurate. As a matter of fact, many competition barrels are unsupported because (1) IPSC/IDPA shooters are fine with round nosed bullets and (2) shoot the lightest loads that meets class rules to minimize recoil anyway.

Read TIM SUNDLES article on the BUFFALO BORE web site entitled, "Hard Cast Bullets in Polygonal Barrels." Essentially, he says that quality Hard Cast bullets are not the same as Lead bullets, and you can shoot them out of the Glock Hexagonal barrel with no more of a problem than with any other barrel. He explains how the MYTH that you shouldn't shoot them out of a Glock got started. Not an expert myself, just reporting what I read. For dependable feeding in the Woods I think I'd be safer with Hard Cast in a Stock Glock Barrel. Scoring well on the range is a probably a different story.

It's Glock's unsupported chamber that makes it "unsafe" to shoot reloads. The "polygonal" rifling isn't a true polygonal rifling like in older war guns (MG-42). The barrel leads as much as other barrels. Also,Glock brass isn't harder to size than other brass. Why it's potentially dangerous is because the "Glock buldge" at the bottom of the brass isn't sized down. Any normal sizing die in an average die set doesn't go down far enough. There are special dies to do that so it will chamber properly. All in all, it's expensive to shoot and reload for Glocks...

Will a Lone Wolf barrel make to the G27 able to handle the hottest +P anno out there? So with LW Barrels would you say Buffalo Bore ammo is safer in the LW? I CCW my G27 and will only buy +P from Sig, Underwood and Buffalo and want the tighter barrel. Are you saying the AK like workings of the GLOCK will go way with the tighter clearance Lone Wolf barrels? I plan on buying two. Do you even reload? It definitely doesn't sound like it considering your fixation on Glock fired brass being hard to resize...
@michaelmarine6593
@michaelmarine6593 7 жыл бұрын
Its not so much the issue of resizing difficulty, but rather work hardening the brass that causes problems. The bulge caused by the oversized Glock chamber gets worked more during the resizing process, making it more brittle. 3 or 4 reloads later and the brass can't hold the chamber pressure anymore. This condition can cause the dreaded 6 o'clock kaboom when using reloads in a stock Glock barrel. This is why folks like to swap out the stock barrel for a tighter, SAAMI spec chambered barrel. Nothing wrong with the stock barrel if you don't reload, and it's accurate enough for SD purposes. Brilliant idea for reliability and durability, just don't roll your own. Glock doesn't recommend reloads anyway.

@KTMcaptain
@KTMcaptain 7 жыл бұрын
BDurant yes and no. you want the round loaded exactly the same every time. just being off slightly in the chamber can affect the rounds balance (ever so slightly). but unless you're shooting match grade munitions, then your ammo will be of more a concern. it also depends on the groupings you want. the polygonal barrel is better for most people as long as they stick to jacketed rounds.

glock store paint jobs leave a lot to be desired....extended controls came chipped paint job out the box...I'd love to meet the dumbass who looked at it and said yup this is quality send it...the dimpled barrel black paint had good amount of wearing away after 30 rounds...its a good trigger love the trigger so far the tungsten guide rod is good. stick with the silver if you really want a barrel. I completely gutted out a glock 19 gen 4 never fired and replaced with all glock store parts...the only thing I would recommend buying is the pyramid ultra and the tungsten guide rod. the rest looks like cheap Chinese knockoffs...I put the oem barrel in and did another 30 shots no wearing to the point of seeing the chrome underneath like the double diamond dimpled in black shown....I know they will eventually wear away but didn't expect it after 2 15 round magazines. after experiencing the cheap quality on other parts I'm hoping this trigger will last along with the guide rod.

No access to cleaning kits? First rule for any solider especially infantry is you clean your weapon before you eat or sleep. The fire arms combat soldiers use are their lives. They DO clean their weapons.
@KTMcaptain
@KTMcaptain 7 жыл бұрын
NovaScotiaNewfie your comment shows your naivete. I'm sure the rangers in Mogadishu were cleaning their guns while pinned down over nighty... situations occur in war in which you cannot control for, thus nothing, not even cleaning your weapon, is taken for granted. just walking around in the middle east gets your action dirty, but I'm sure Isis will wait til you clean out your chamber. in the heat of battle weapons and rounds can be dropped or scavenged without time to clean. haven't you seen the hurt locker?

you are demonstrating how tight are the aftermarket barrel tolerance that will affect the accuracy but you have only compared the chamber dimension which in my opinion will not affect the accuracy. chamber dimension is only for reliability which glock promised. as per glock claim also that their barrel octagonal/hexagonal design makes their barrel tight as possible and seal off the gas from escaping from the bullet so you have a powerful projectile velocity (which that makes improved accuracy also as their barrel is tight based also as per your claim that tight barrel improves accuracy) Now for better comparison, please measure your barrel dimension not the chamber to prove that you have tighter barrel that will contribute on accuracy. I believed also that accuracy obtained from the aftermarket barrel was the tolerance between the slide and barrel so it will not wiggle to have a consistent aim on target and not the chamber dimension. chamber dimension is only for reliability that it will feed any kind of ammo on same caliber of course and also as for supported chamber to avoid brass expansion or even kaboom.. so it will be reloader friendly. and another advantage of aftermarket barrel was their conventional rifling which is land and groove design so you can shoot lead. :)

Just a word of caution for anyone thinking about making a purchase from the Glock Store. Am currently having a difference of opinion with their customer service dept. on the handling of a recent order with them. I will not go into specifics yet, as I am waiting to see if they do the right thing on their own. If not by the end of the weekend, I will then post a full accounting. In the mean time buyer beware.

Glock functionality is better w/FMJ Remember and like Lenny just pointed out the Glock was designed as a weapon of war for soldiers for use in the military’s which is why it’s not necessarily designed To shoot anything with exposed lead anything with exposed lead is going to leave lead residue inside the barrel and with peoples predisposition to not wanting to clean their weapons after they fire them or use them in a target shooting mode guess what

are these barrels made of of 17-4 stainless steel or t 416 Stainless Steel ?? we know that 17-4 is more superior ...all Glock store slides and barrels are 416 which is a low quality and if they are made over seas I wouldn't trust them
