Resin isn't the only way to achieve a perfectly glossy, glass-like finish. You can get the same kind of shine by sanding and buffing.
No, there is no varnish, resin, gloss, sealer, clearcoat, or other product on the surface of this clay. It's 100% polymer clay, cut from the same piece, and baked at the same time. They're identical aside from the five minutes I spent sanding and buffing it.
This video shows the difference between clay that's "straight from the oven" vs clay that's been polished by sanding and buffing.
No, this isn't time consuming. The key is knowing what you're doing. (And the advice given in reels and online is not the best way.)
Learn the secrets of how you can achieve this perfect finish, eliminating the uncertainty, white haze and scratches, cramped shoulders, raw fingertips, and health hazards you've run into before. All of this is addressed and covered in this course that's online or you can download the info in a 120 page PDF.
You can get this course/tutorial by going to clay.tips/shop or go through the links in my profile. Enjoy!

The pattern is spectacular- is that in the tutorial? 😊

This particular pattern is done with a technique called mokume gane using a branching texture sheet. While I don't go into detail on this particular pattern, it does include the information required to make something quite similar.

Omgosh this is absolutely beautiful. I've been sanding on some of my turquoise earrings and it's not quite this shiny. What am I doing wrong?

How do you keep from sanding off the design?

The design is flat. It's part of the clay. And the instructions for this basic process is included in the Sanding and Buffing Course.

I am new to polymer clay and I dislike the process of sanding so much! Does this course involves actual sandpaper or is there a better alternative?
@thebluebottletree
@thebluebottletree 10 ай бұрын
@@Vivi_020 There are many alternatives and they're all discussed and explained. Also, if you're struggling with sandpaper, it's likely because you've been taught to use it incorrectly. That's what this course is about. Learning to sand easily, not as medieval torture.
