I don't comment much or know if you still even read the comments here, but I just wanted to say that I appreciate your tutorial. The instructions on good settings and how to set it up are so clear and concise, following along was a breeze. And that advice about starting small to avoid burnout, was probably one of the best tips of this tutorial. Starting small means learning small, and I've obviously gotta start walking before I run. I also thought it would be much more time consuming to achieve similar results I'd always see on the Gmod community hub or on other art sites, but repetition makes for a good teacher as well. I'm obviously nowhere near the same level yet, only doing soft lamps on and off for about a month now, but your guide has been immensely helpful in getting closer, step by step - and I'm really noticing the changes. Sorry for the long read, but I did sincerely want to express my gratitude. Hope you're doing well man! 👍

Composition, posing, lighting, editing - I can handle them given I’ve already done quite a handful of renders with SFM (and it’s something I’ve been doing with MMD since 2013). What I fear the most is the amount of lights I have to use. When I learned that I literally, and I mean LITERALLY, only need to use *_one_* soft lamp for the general lighting, I felt like jumping out of my skin and celebrating. I like humorous tutorials. I’ll keep this video open so I can follow it step-by-step (while constantly berating myself for doing yet another portrait render). Thanks man.

that spooky light spot on gm black messed up and entire city i was making for some arkwork it was the most noticable building in the front so i had to manually erase the lit parts in photoshop was not fun

Hey Ive been following your stuff for a while now and your old tutorial actually helped me get into the usage of light bounce, I fell out of practice and came back to try again. Ive run into an issue where light sprayer just isnt puting down points, i did a short google search and couldnt find anything but links back to here. I even looked for other comments with the issue but it seems im the only one having this happen. All i get in console is "Calculated 0 lights for light spray!" am i just missing something incredibly obvious?

Sorry for the number of questions. When you said adjust the opacity of each light layer, is it mostly the lightbounce layer because adjusting them all below 100% would show the transparent background.

Not sure if you are still active but im having some issues, one the lightbounce render keeps just rendering black even though i did the light spray thing, 2 when i did the ambience it just makes the render look deepfried and bright???

flashlightdrawfrustum doesn't work for some reason :( it says r_flashlightdrawfrustum = 1 . 000000 ( def. "0" ) client. Can you help? I looked for some help on discord but couldn't find any. I tried unbinding and rebinding and nothing happened. I'm kinda new to soft lamps and Gmod commands so sorry if this was an easy fix I didn't know about.

"Postersplit doesn't do anything useful". Well yes kinda. I found that if you put in 1 for it, then it will save your shot in four pieces depending on the the poster size you put in. So like it saves the 4 pieces your poster 2 shot. So no value for that. Maybe this was already discovered. But just informing it as a late note.
