I don't think today's generation would never ever know how we felt about Angela and Shawn relationship..

I honestly can’t believe she said “I need somebody who UNDERSTANDS ME to tell me if I’d be a good mom...” and that person wasn’t her husband. Sis if you don’t think your own husband understands you, but your old ex-boyfriend does...ya married the wrong man. The writers really tried to sink Shawngela here but I ship them harder than ever.

As a BMW viewer from episode 1 I can say that this was actually more true to life and I respect it. Sometimes the one that should have been does become the one that got away and the show reflected that. It is hard and it sucks, but it is also a part of "meeting the world." A lot of us are grown ups now and know that this happens. That's why Shawn and Angela not getting together hurts that much more. But I respect a wholesome view of the hardships of living that this represents. She got away. We have to move on and try to find some happiness for ourselves in what we have left and be happy that she has hers. We can reminisce, but it had to be this way.

I never liked GMW, it's boring and never talks about real stuff like in BMW. Shawn and Angela should've been together in the first place...

So. I'm a young one, and I wasn't alive for y'alls boy meets world phase but i sure watched the whole damn thing after girl meets world. And the one thing i can say is: I absolutely hated Angela without watching boy meets world but after watching it and remembering that in the sequel they dont end up together i feel sad. Katy and Shawn never built up that connection or chemistry that Shawn and Angela did, as I have learnt they were so in love and I honestly don't like maya or katy they're just people with problems and overrated. This is terrible. I hate how silly this show is and how it treats the original material as a "remember that?" gag. Shawn and Angela's journey was all about getting over fears of abandonment and realizing that they could have their own Cory and Topanga love story. They both wanted what Cory and Topanga had, but in comparison had to work on themselves to get there. That was a running therme, especially for Shawn's character. It's clear that he loved Angela after all these years and that they both have a bond so to not have that pay off is really dissatisfying. I get the real life message GMW is trying to insert here, but to have Shawn end up the daddy stand in to the best friend of his best friend's daughter is to me even more unrealistic.

Many of yall don't get it. This was all a setup. Angela was there to help him move on and go on to the next stage of his life. Didn't yall see the look that Angela gave Corey and he gave her? They were communicating to each other that their plan may have worked. Corey called Angela to help Shawn. He pretended he didn't know she was coming but he did. Either that or Topanga called her.

I loved Shawn and Angela in BMW, but it is honestly realistic that only Cory and Topanga worked out from the OG show. Heck, Rachel didn’t end up with Jack or Eric. Not everyone marries their high school sweetheart, that’s life. But what they got wrong was how they talked about Shawn and Angela in relation to Shawn’s life. They were each other’s first love. Most people don’t end up with their first love, but there was a better way to handle this without vilifying Angela and diminishing their relationship.

Parallel to the retirement scene in boy meets world. Foreshadowing you could say. Shawn and Angela undeniably have great chemistry as endearing like Cory and topanga.

To me Shawn & Angela ended up together and Katie & Maya found someone else. That's my imagination and I'm sticking to it. 🗿

Okay i know i’m gonna get a lot of hate for this comment but i didn’t exactly despise the fact that shawn and angela didn’t end up together. I despised how she was treated when she got back and how they completely forget that she was one of their closest friends and of course it would have been amazing if they ended up together, but this is a realistic showing that explains how sometimes ur first love isn’t ur forever love and how people change after high school and college. Again, i loved them together 8000%, but it’s not like everyone in the world is going to end up with someone they fell in love with in high school, life goes on and people change as you grow up and angela realized that.

I just read someone's comment and they're right. The new generation that sees these episodes,would not understand at that time how everybody felt about their relationship Angela and Shawn's. It was not about the interracial relationship. People just saw a relationship. And that's going to be hard for the new generation to understand. They shouldn't end up together and all our minds they did.

They had to bring Angela back, so that the people who grew up watching this show got closure. We didn’t get the closure we wanted sadly. It honestly just feels like it represents how people just don’t have a life that goes the way they want it. Cory and Topanga had a life that went the way they wanted it to go, which represents a small amount of people. However, Shawn and Angela represent the vast majority of the rest of us, and how we just have to pick up some pieces and try to put them together to keep making it. Like Shawn and Maya and her mom, just gathering some pieces/people together to make a family.

My problem here is that Angela rando drops in, doesn't talk to Cory, doesn't as much as ask about Topanga (her best friend from HS & College) and just tells Shawn to go after Katie.

yeah because shawn and angela ending up together would’ve been unrealistic…but shawn ending up with his best friends daughters best friends mother so he could be the father to shawn 2.0 is realistic??? literally abysmal writing THROUGHOUT the show and i wish the writing never got to shawn and angela.Also Eric being a mayor instead of a weatherman/teacher or having a family….Cory being a teacher…this reboot was SO disconnected from the original to the point i can’t even see it as canon.Glad it got cancelled.This is why reboots aren’t always necessary.

And that’s true, but let’s not forget about Angela, and what the writers did to her. To be honest, Shawn got the better end of the deal here. I mean sure he’s stuck in a terrible storyline playing Rent-a-Dad to Maya. Being forced to into a romance with Katy for Maya’s sake, but Rider can come on the show and be lovable Uncle Shawn. Trina can’t do that because entire character slandered episodes before she came on the show. In Master Plan upon hearing how Shawn fell for Angela, going through her purse, Riley and Maya go on to say things like, “You fell in love with a concept,” and “It was doomed from the start”; said by kids who have no idea what they’re talking about. That’s not even how it happened. Yeah, he fell for the the “mystery girl” from what was in her purse but that’s not how he fell for Angela. He fell for her after they already dated. They had broken up and Shawn didn’t realize what they had until Cory and Topanga told him to open his eyes to what was already in front of him. Riley and Maya’s words were meant to sound insightful and probably would’ve if it weren’t an opinions based on lies. Next, the audience is lead to believe that one day Angela just up and left Shawn. He tried to make the relationship work but she just added on to the list of people that left him, adding more pain to his life. Lies the writers told. That is not how it happened. Angela left for a reason, and Shawn knew why. In fact, even though it was hard for him, he knew it was what she needed, and eventually accepted that she had to go. She didn’t mysteriously leave Shawn in the middle of the night. She went to go be with her father for a year to make up for lost time. Notice how I said she was only supposed to be gone for a year? Instead the writers left that point out. They ignored it completely. “We were supposed to be the next Cory and Topanga,” Shawn goes on to say which was bullshit. Yeah, they had their moment in the beginning of their relationship where the wanted to be like Cory and Topanga, but as they grew they knew they couldn’t be and that, that was ok. Besides no matter what went down most if not all of the BMW audience did not see them as Cory and Topanga 2.0. Corpanga and Shawngela were two very different couples. Angela and Shawn both had very difficult backgrounds, their childhoods weren’t the best, they met each other later on in life, they were two people of two very different cultures coming together and finding happiness in each other. So, why would you think all these years later we would be all like, “Yeah, I get what the writers were saying. Angela and Shawn were a great couple back then, but they’re no Cory and Topanga. They made a great point?” Lets not ignore how all the other BMW cast who came back were treated compared to Angela. Eric is the kooky, but smart lovable uncle; rightfully so. Shawn though his introduction was rough but he’s lovable uncle Shawn now; again nothing wrong. Turner, though we haven’t seen him since season three, is uncle Turner and comes to dinner every Sunday. Minkus, who we haven’t seen since season three, I believe. And that one time in season six, he’s not only the father of Farkle who is the main character’s closest friends. He’s also a close friend of Cory and Topanga. Even Minkus’ wife was treated better than Angela, and she was the villain in the only episode of BMW she was in. They’re written in way way were they’re supposed to be loved if not that then at least liked. When Angela’s makes her debut in Hurricane right before she comes on screen she described by Cory describes her to Shawn as someone who could make him go from, “My life is going pretty good right now to AHh!” as one last jab at her before she makes it on the show. As if her name hasn’t even been dragged threw the dirt enough already. All this happened around Angela character and she hasn’t even been on screen yet. This did not happen to any of the other characters. So, now when Angela finally does make her way graciously on screen she met with an angry Cory asking why she left his BFF Shawn as if he didn’t know, or he didn’t know her at all. She is met with an very upset Maya looking like someone kicked her puppy. She’s met with a very condemning Riley, ready to slay the vicious dragon and has come to ruin the lives of everyone she loves. She doesn’t even get a scene with her Topanga, her former best friend. It’s not even mentioned in the Master Plan, where her name first came up, or the episode she in that her and Topanga were best friends. I’m not even going to go into the part where she asks Shawn if she should have kids with her husband. Because apparently she married now. And even though she hasn’t talked to him in fifteen years she tracks him down because he’s the only one who she can have this talk with. What? Did the writers even try with this one. It gets worse. After Angela and Shawn have their talk Angela says out of her own mouth to Shawn “Let what we had prepare you for-” some more bad storytelling. I honestly don’t know what she said after that because again… what? Angela says this kisses Shawn goodbye and tells Shawn to be with Maya and Katy cause where he’s meant to be. And just like that Angela Moore’s entire character was just a lesson for Shawn. Angela Moore’s character’s story was never really going to be told. Her only purpose in all the episode of BMW she was in was to further Shawn’s life and prepare him for better things ahead. And that’s what really pisses me off. Too often we see this type of writing is way to common in black character’s stories. Black characters are not just a lesson. Black characters are not here to make white character’s lives better, or to show them the way. We are people and we have our own lives and our stories deserve to be told. But Angela’s entire character defiled episodes before her arrival. She was portrayed as the woman that flaked out on Shawn for no reason, just like everyone else in his life. She was portrayed as someone who could potentially ruin a poor child’s hope for a family and possibly better future. She was portrayed as the villain of the week the episode she was in. Which was gross. She didn’t deserve any of that. She should’ve been Aunt Angela. She should’ve been able to be loved and adored by the new audience. She wasn’t even given a chance. It was horrible the way the writers treated her in their narrative. They completely trashed her, they lied about her, the shoved her away for Shawn, they shoved her away for Katy, the shoved her Maya and even Riley. She was a main character in BMW, so there’s no way she should’ve treated the way she was. It was disgusting. Riley said in one episode she, “Knows all the stories.” So, how come she didn’t know about Angela? Angela was the first girl Topanga could call her best friend. She was a bridesmaid at Topanga’s wedding. Angela was Shawn’s first real relationship. They loved and cared about each other so much. Shawn even said he could tell her things he couldn’t tell Cory. Angela was Cory’s close friend. They’ve known each other from high school through college. She along with Shawn and Topanga once moved there schedules around so Cory wouldn’t fail his first semester of college. Her mom left her and her dad when she was young. Her dad was in the military so she didn’t see him much. She left to be with her dad for a year to get make up for lost time. Shawn knew this and even though he was distressed he agreed that she should go. Angela didn’t say goodbye to Shawn before she left, she said I love you. She thought there was a chance for them to come back together. Angela deserved better. She deserved WAAAAAAY better. I can’t stress that enough.”

Watched the entire BMW series. Barely saw GMW. But it's scenes like this makes me realize why this show ONLY made it to three seasons.

Their written relationship isn't toxic, the audience is always moved by love story that ends in separation or tragedy literature will teach you that. Also movies like The Human Stain MacBeth so on and so forth

Reading the comments I think its amusing how many people are so quick to dismiss the way the writers did Shawn's relationships and how it ended. I would like you all to remember that Shawn spent his whole life getting left; his father, his mother, his father again...and again. Even Mr. Turner (we think?) And then finally the one person he hoped would stay the most. Its conceivable to think that this pattern would break a person; make them afraid to be left again, make them unready to be responsible not to leave another person (like Maya), yet also yearn for the last person who left, after he tried to give her his whole heart. Many times Shawn talked about wishing they were the next Cory and Topanga; he was still hung up on Angela. He wanted the idea, but never healed from the relationship. This scene (to me) is about Shawn moving forward finally, and being told to let himself be ready. It might not have been great for the Angela character; but I think its great writing for healing a broken character like Shawn

Katie and Shawn could have had potential to be a great couple if it was done properly. The entire thing was too rushed and didn’t feel authentic at all. I’m not really that bothered by Angela and Shawn not ending up together. Her cameo appearance though was shit. They could have done this very differently.

The storyline from the way this was going in the first place until Katy was really introduced was that Katy was neglectful mother kinda still concerned about her struggling career I wish this had been on Netflix or Freeform where Katy would of been a bad mother to Maya trying to get with Shawn but playing nice with Maya when Shawn was around then Angela had moved to NY freshly divorced or single since Shawn and her Shawn and Maya would have formed a Bond him and Angela start dating Katy gets mad take it out on Maya. Either Shawn and Angela get custody of Maya or Katy befalls an accident and Maya is adopted by Shawn & Angela with a baby on the way. They should have brought them back together.
