I totally agree with you, usually the guard's and horse's get little respect. Also I thought the guard's were not allowed to talk.

Horses know the difference when children touch them and what a lovely guard and horse very calm bless them both 🥰

My horse never gets sick of people giving him scratches and pets. I'd worry more about too many people wanting to do it at once and surrounding him.

I sincerely hope this Guard does not make a habit of encouraging people to touch the horse. Could lead to all sort of problems.

Not really, there's a few clips around with a guard acknowledging a member of the public. There's one on here, of an unmounted cavalry trooper, at this location with two young American girls asking if they could kiss him. With a slight smile, and a nod, he has a kiss planted on each cheek, it looked as though it made the day for all three of them.

Yes they are heavy... I guess the pole on the top is for wifi.. It gives them free wifi and acts as signal boster 😁

I've never been on King's Guard or Queen's Guard, so I don't know that specific helmet, but I did mounted drill in the Canadian Army with a similar helmet. They aren't really heavy, roughly the same as our normal kevlar helmet. I don't know exactly why the plume but I think it's to force you to sit up straight with good posture. If your head is tilted in any direction it unbalances the weight and becomes uncomfortable on your neck. Same idea with the high collars and brim that comes down over the eyes. If you slouch you can't see and the clasp sticks in your throat.

I was in Hereford once and overheard someone someone talking about the 800 year old Mappa Mundi in the cathedral. Their companion said "can you touch it?" "No, it's behind glass" "What's the point of seeing it then?" As you say, why do people always want to touch?
