6:58 I find the dialogue of Saturn saying to Vegapunk that his "lust" (or greed) for knowledge is responsible for the downfall of Egghead so so sooo brilliant, cause in reality his goodness (Shaka) was the one interested in digging the erased history of the void century and, in fact, his lust/greed (York) was the one in cahoots with the world government.

Some japanese translators have immediately pointed out that in this and the previous chapter, kizaru's usual idiolect is different. Anime watchers already know that when kizaru speaks he lengthens the end of his sentences, however in these chapters its different, hes no longer speaking in his usual laid back manner, its as if his tone has shifted to a more stoic and serious tone.

While I’m not sure what I think Kizaru will do, reading some fans argue about it almost makes “Kizaru will flip” feel like the next “the raid will fail”.

I read the whole "why doesn't Kizaru save his friends?" thing as being indicative that the world government has some INSANE blackmail over the admirals that we aren't aware of. Why the hell does Fujitora serve the world goverment when their actions revolted him to the point where he literally carved out his own eyes?

So my Kizaru theory was that he was the one who fed luffy, and that he did it specifically because watching Bonney (and I think Sentomaru too) die is the line for him. Looking at the egg head crew through the lens of the One Piece family model we've seen many times before, Kizaru would see both Sentomaru and Bonney as kids he needs to protect. It would make sense that Kizaru was willing to kill Vegapunk, because he was an adult, and he was studying the Void century, so he can rationalize it as the right thing to do, since Vegapunk knew what the consequences would be. But Bonney and Sentomaru would still be innocent kids in his eyes. So he fed luffy when it seemed like there was literally no hope for Bonney, and put saving her in his hands. Of course this makes way less sense this chapter, since Kizaru directly put Bonney in danger with his actions at the end there. My only explanation would be that he knows Luffy is on the move now, and feels like he can carry on with his job now that he's left protecting Bonney in his hands.

I'm fairly confident it can't be the Revolutionary Army coming, Kuma just arrived, and he was flying faster than any ship, so even if Dragon left immediately after him he'd still be too far behind to show up now. I'm firmly in the Grand Fleet Camp, they're the only ones I can think of who both would be willing to save a ship full of civilians and have a reason to head to Egghead (they presumably starting heading for Luffy when his Vivre Card showed him die on Wano, and then read the news about the siege), plus the Grand Fleet upon formation were described as later causing a huge incident, and Egghead started with the narrator saying a huge incident is going to happen here, so it all lines up.

I actually want it to be the Grand Fleet, basically for the reasons you mentioned, but not to lighten the tone but to see them all in a more serious tone. The Egghead Incident being what turns the Grand Fleet into more of a force, and a threat when Mobilized. The marine suffering massive losses in terms of ships at the least. It also helps getting the big event teased at the end of Dressrosa down now at the start of the final Saga, and this way the Fleet is a looming presence to the world when it comes to the Strawhats. We could also get Morgans spin the story into something like "Emperor Strawhat Luffy and his Grand Fleet Destroy Egghead Island" with mentions of significant losses on side of the Marines.

Something that just hit me about this whole event with Kuma now showing up (regardless of what is left of him inside) is that the Strawhats are actively saving him and Bonney BECAUSE of Kuma saving them during Sabaody. Their training and their determination to be better thanks to his last act of conscious kindness is what is probably going to save his daughter, one of his dearest friends, and change the world via Luffy(The embodiment of his god/hero/idol Nika). It's so beautiful to think about how much his kindness and self sacrifice changed the world.

From how he's been acting this arc i wouldn't be surprised if Kizaru hadn't actually discussed staying with Saturn, he's just keeping up the good boy routine and following orders without question

Kuma is a Klaubautermann im calling it now he's basically just the Merry at the end of Eines Lobby Both pronounced dead in the series and showed will afterwards Both went through a personal hell in order to get to their beloved (kuma got past Akainu, merry navigated Aqua Laguna) Both made it at the 11th hour to save said individual Both showed up during a buster call Both are not able to make it to the next island Both collapse after saving the person and knowing they're safe If this continues, Kuma is going to apologize (like actual Kuma) to Bonney for not being able to make it further/see her birthday and thats gonna break me

So some translators have pointed out that Kizaru's way of talking has changed in this chapter or I believe even in the one before chapter 1105. He isn't extending his sentences and isn't speaking in his usual laid-back manner. He is talking in a much more serious and direct tone. This is something that sadly gets lost in translation but is just a really cool detail. Doll was probably taken aback by Kizaru's tone because she probably wasn't used to it. I still have hope that Kizaru when the moment comes will choose our side or at least a middle ground. I don't think Kizaru will fully betray the Marines(or the WG in this case), but I think a nice arc for him would be that he discovers or maybe re-discovers his sense of justice that he has maybe lost throughout his life or never had.

I’m surprised you didn't mention the irony in Saturn pointing out his greed and lust for knowledge being the reason this is all happening, when it was also the embodiment of his greed that sold him out in the first place. Without vegapunk York, his digging into the past would never be discovered.

Im really digging what Oda is doing with Kizaru, I feel like he is his generation's Garp. Someone who is convinced that the world government's rule is for the greater good but is able to see the evil and injustice in their actions. Him having to obey orders against Kuma and Vegapunk is a nice parallel to Garp having to make sure Ace gets executed even though it's tearing him apart.

I want the Grand Fleet to be the mystery party at the end because that could mean them to be the New Giant Pirates of Hajrudin, Goldberg, Gerd, and the rest. Which would be a phenomenal bridge to Elbaf and a connection to Jaguar D Saul.

The tonal shift the Grand Fleet would bring makes think they may be coming. Gear 5 changes the mood like we saw during the fight with Kaido. And while Joyboy alone could be seen as just another warrior, Joyboy with an army of bozos would look more like a tidal shift against the current world order.

I’ve been thinking but Saturn initiating the Buster Call to destroy Egghead is so INCREDIBLY smooth brained. The fusion reactor needed to create the Mother Flame is located on Egghead. So Saturn has effectively permanently shut down the WG strongest weapon in the Ancient Weapon (presumably) that they possess. He intentionally severely crippled the WG’s power against any and everyone because he was butt hurt and embarrassed. The only person capable of producing the power source for their Ancient Weapon is Vegapunk and this dude is just gonna destroy him and the island willy nilly. Not only is that the height of folly, but it’s also a pretty human thing to do for someone who considers themselves a god and above reproach. I don’t think Imu is gonna be to happy when they hear that their Ancient Weapon is no longer functional because one of his lackeys, who’s supposed to to be a scientist and one of the smartest beings on the planet, got emotional and acted like a “insect”

The way I interpreted Kizaru response to Doll and the whole ,,we stay" situation was that I don't think they talked about this, I just think that Saturn made this decision in the moment without discussing it with Kizaru, and Kizaru's response to Doll in my opinion was his way of accepting the order and the idea he might not live

Damn, this week's art goes hard as hell, that's an amazing piece of art.

I know who “they” are now because of early leaks, but I can share what my theories were before then: 1. Grand Fleet - especially given that Harjudin and his giant crew are from the neighbouring Elbaf, and how the Grand Fleet were hyped up as taking part in some “great incident” in the future, which is how Egghead was also narrativised and hyped up, I thought it would make sense. The Grand Fleet versus a major Navy fleet to even the odds, I don’t think it’s a tonal mismatch either. A genuine major Yonko v Navy war would have broken out with the potential loss of an Admiral, a Gorosei member or even just Vegapunk himself as possible conclusions. Certainly the makings of a momentous incident. 2. Shanks - he’s *right there next door* - but I wasn’t fully convinced that was this how he and Luffy would meet either. 3. Blackbeard Pirates - not the man himself becayse he just got finished beating Law and he’s the *other* side of Elbaf, and but we did see their ship and are waiting for that to pay off. Still doubt it because they’re not very nice as you said. 4. Revolutionary Army - I don’t think this is feasible at all, as they were all at Kamabakka Kingdom just before Kuma left for Mareijois and then Egghead. They can’t travel from wherever in Paradise they are now to fairly deep into the New World in half a day. As for the others you mentioned, I like the MADS turning up to save science theory a lot, but I don’t know why Smoker/Tashigi would attack a Marine ship and elict a response like *they* have come to Egghead.

While the Revolutionary Army isn't high on my list possibilities of mystery crew incoming, a secondary reason I would like it is Dragon's thought process on hearing the news like "Wow Luffy is fighting the government to defend my old friend yet I'M NOT?? Jay was right; I AM a fraud" 🤣🤣

Grand fleet seems more plausible because they can provide support against the marines and break up the unprecedentedly large buster call. This gives space for the main crew to have proper fights without constantly dealing with barrage from navy ships.

Im for Grand Fleet being led by Vivi or they is Boa's crew and Rayleigh. I think finally seeing Rayleigh go all out and Rayleigh getting to see Luffy awakened but Rayleigh dying in this conflict would be great setup for the end

I find that Blackbeard rescuing/capturing the scientists in the hope they know how to read the poneglyphs would make sense. We also don’t know exactly at what point in time we saw the ship (both blackbeard and the marine battleship) so there is a possibility it could be a bit in the past

I don't know why people are giving up on Borsalino so quickly. He is an Admiral and also cares for his Navy folk, playing along a little longer makes sense, especially long enough for the Navy to get out of dodge so he can do what he wants with no fear of collateral damage

I did see something online that made comparisons between egghead and dressrosa, which does make the theory of the grand fleet a little more compelling. Also, the lightsaber from earlier summoning swarms of bugs feels increasingly thematic, so the island being swarmed by a lot of “insects” like Barto would be amazing
