I think it's fascinating the animators put so many facial expressions into Jormungandr. He's so happy when Mimir starts talking to him the first time.

Jack Lion kind of funny when you realize that the world Serpent is Kronos' great great grandson. And to add to that Kratos has been inside his grandfather(Kronos) and grandson(world Serpent).

Panda Chains spoilers In the game it's revealed that Atreus is Actually Loki. Kratos calls him Atreus but Faye wanted to call him Loki. Mimir said that when Jormungadr and Thor clashed the battle was so titanic that he was sent back in time before his birth and jormungadr said that Atreus looked familiar implying that he is the father.

In Norse mythology, Baldur is said to be condemned into Helheim. Perhaps while Kratos and Atreus were escaping the Realm of the Dishonored Dead, the son of Odin and "Frigg" gave something up to the Queen of Helheim as a way to get back to Midgard. Perhaps its the privilege to return to Valhalla like his murdered nephews that he gave up, though that is just my guess.

@@aristonaragao3171 Imo Jormungand didn't fight back Baldur because Kratos and Atreus was inside him.If he moved around to fight , they would be ragdolling inside and can't do whatever they wanted to.Baldur also knew they were inside judging from what he said.He just beat down the poor Snek who wasn't moving around at all

C4Zero actually he didn't birth him his wife birth the snake, the wolf, and his daughter hel. The only thing he actually gave birth to was odin 8 legged horse which is so creepy. I'm guessing the reason it came out a snake was because his ability to shape shift so instead of giving birth to normal baby he can also breed animals as well.

Justin. ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWQYZ there’s actually a reason for that. Direct address was a common practice in the Greek language... calling you’re wife or mother “O Gyne” (woman) was a formal/respectful way of addressing someone close to you (that’s why in the Bible, you’ll hear Jesus call people “man” or “woman,” as it was originally written in Greek) that, combined with Kratos’ Lycurgan upbringing as a spartan (not a people known for mincing words) it makes sense for Kratos to say “Paide!” or BOI!

Jörmungandr is so big in size and so powerful that he can easily take down a giant, yet he emerges from the water right in front of Kratos and Atreus' boat without toppling it and drops the Leviathan Axe straight onto the boat seat so that it wouldn't make a hole on the bottom of the boat. These really show how precise his movements are. Can't wait to see more of this!

Yep. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed how he goes out of his way to inhibit and be as gentle as possible, when he can get away with it. It really speaks to the fact that he's not a malevolent person and doesn't want to cause unnecessary harm to bystanders by moving about too much or too forcefully.

It is explained by Mimir that when Jormungandr and Thor battle each other during the last great battle of the Aseir and the Jotuns and the undead during Ragnarok the prophesied end of the Norse world that Thor hit Jormungandr with Mjølnir so hard he send the world Serpent flying through the branches of the Yggdrasill known as the world tree that connects the nine realms of Norse mythology together and through that send the snake back in time to the past. So essentially it was time travel via using some sort of powerful magic from the celestial tree that connects the past, present and future of the all the nine realms. Although this never happened in Norse mythology its a cool concept that Santa Monica studios made up to explain why we saw Jormungandr in this game while his father Atreus/Loki is a kid and the son of Kratos in this universe.

In the trailer, Atreus said "he said he wants to help us" In the cutscene, when it spits the axé, it says "axe imbued" The nordic myth says Jormun kills Thor by poisoning him with its bite Add it all together, Jormungard put a bit of poison in the axe in that cutscenes, and it will kill Thor when he fights Kratos in the next game

All of the tremendous and terrifying monsters of Greek myth we've seen from this series cannot lift a finger to this thing. I really wish more titles utilized kaiju+ sized monsters that actually have some sense of intelligence, if not outright sapient thought. Imagine going into battle on the shoulder of a giant, operating an AA gun to keep enemy bombers off of him, or even better, PLAYING as the giant.

It's old norse with some clever direction and editing to make it sound like relevant english at times, and a lot of bass and I think some slight reverb to help it reflect his size. I also suspect the VA intentionally spoke in a growly tone for the base audio to make him seem a bit monstrous. Basically, it's heavily garbled attempts at speaking old norse. Edit: I'm speaking from experience, because I've mixed the audio for giant monsters like Jormungandr before.

Jormungandr going back through time in a loop might become Atreus' method of time travel, similar to what a certain Ghost of Sparta did when he killed the Fate's of Greece. He just hops into Jormungandrs gullet and waits for Ragnarök to be over, then walks out again since the world is recreated then makes a new Jormungandr.

The serpent is Atreus’s, Loki’s, son. The serpent is from the future as he awaits ragnarok. I think that’s why he speaks kindly and recognizes Atreus. All makes sense

Loki was the son of Laufey, as well as the father of Jormungandr in myth. Faye called Atreus "Loki" practically his whole life. The Serpent recognizes Atreus and is believed to be from the future. I fail to see how Atreus could be anyone else.

No, there was only one Loki. The second "Loki" was Utgard Loki, which doesn't really take any real notoriety, and from what I remember was also a ruler who was frightened of a couple of god's that came by his castle. The game referances Loki as main Loki, and that explains tons of shit, because Loki and his keen are the main reason why Ragnarok is even a thing and are the main enemies of the Norse god's. Odin is looking for Loki because he is the reason why he will die, and that's why the story is of Atreus/ Loki and not of kratos.
