As a Christian I feel like there are a thousand other religions that are attacked and hated on more than Christianity especially after the mass murder and forcing of people to convert when Christopher Columbus entered “the new world” like I can understand why people hate Christian’s but it’s certainly not the same amount of hate and attack that other religions have gotten.

this might be tmi, but masturbation was one of the huge things that helped me recover from SA. i felt so disconnected from my body and i was terrified of sexual connection with others and it was a really sad and angry time of my life. it really helped me with reconnecting my body and mind and paving neural pathways of safe sexual experiences. it helped me feel empowered because i was completely in control and i could stop whenever i wanted without fear. it basically saved me.

Christian values are indeed under attack. It’s all about tolerance and inclusivity when it comes down to Islam or Judaism but a hard line is drawn at Christianity. A local school had an assembly telling the kids about the story and significance of Hanukkah last December and Ramadan during April but nothing was said about Lent or Christmas. Christ said this would happen. Prophecy is being fulfilled right before our eyes. God help us navigate these difficult times.

As someone who used to be like that, the (not biblical) lore is basically that *all* foreign "gods" exist, just that they call themselves gods to their followers when they're actually powerful demons. Yep, Krishna, Zeus, etc. It's how they can perform miracles to convince ppl too. The plot hole is that if they're evil copycats, shouldn't the miracles their followers make go wrong? Why do so many people of other religions have their lives forever changed in the same way as Christians? Or better yet, why do miracles seem to prove fake in _every_ religion (Benny Hinn, etc)? The only answer I've gotten was to just trust that Christian wonders work the best, & others will backfire... one day.

There's something very comforting about never feeling alone, which is something religion is very good at giving you. I respect people CHOOSING the rules they follow in their religion as long as they're an adult with critical thinking skills. But this woman's way of thinking is concerning for SO MANY reasons. 10:24 i have a nitpick as an European Jewish woman, us Jews weren't prosecuted for our religion. it was part of it yes, but Nazism is a racial based ideology and Jews were seen as the anti race. i learned about this for years as someone who majored in history, so its important for me to clarify because this is sort of a new thing that Nazism popularized that didn't really exist before called new antisemitism. in the middle ages or in older times when Jews were prosecuted it was because of religion and if they changed their religion they were fine(mainly), but in Nazism it literally didn't matter what your religion is. if 3 of your grandparents were Jewish then you are Jewish and therefore should be prosecuted. no matter your actual religion. you could have two Jewish grandparents and be considered "mixed racial" and therefore prosecuted. you could be a person who converted to Christianity who comes from a Jewish family and you'd still be prosecuted. ever since the holocaust Jews are seen are a race or an orientation. for example phrases like "Jewish nose" that have been popularized since Nazi Germany even though they did exist beforehand(I'm not saying Nazism invented the concept that Jews are a race just that it popularized it. phrases an expressions like that-that identify the "Jewish" look are really stupid when you think about it, because everyone can convert to Judaism, and there are Jews all around the world. images like that, about what it means to look Jewish, don't really come up in other religions (unless they are really isolated in which Judaism mostly isn't). it was really important for me to highlight it here because i want more people to know the difference and also that its important to educate people about the holocaust. p.s. sorry if my English isn't the best i don't come from an English speaking country.

The distinction between Jewishness as a religion vs as a race has actually been muddied as far back as the Inquisitions - "converso" families who had changed their religion under previous Inquisitions were still considered suspicious, even after generations had passed, because of their "blood." This persecution extended even to descendents of conversos who had married into Christian families, and racialized charicatures from the early modern period show that certain ethnic features were already being coded as Jewish. It's a sad, long history: while the Nazis were some of the most visibly racially antisemetic, they certainly weren't the first to enact racist opression and violence against Jewish people, and it's important that we recognize the many different European powers that have persecuted Jewish people on a racial basis so that we can work to keep it from happening on such a scale again.

I've been both disabled and Christian from birth. Every church I went to was so ableist that I was gaslit into pretending and thinking that I wasn't disabled. I didn't even see a doctor. It was one of the main reasons why I left Christianity - I want to a doctor, I got a cane, then a walker, then a wheelchair. I finally have found ways to manage my pain (ironically, one of those ways is masturbation lol), I found supportive people, and I'm now getting the scans and tests that I need. It hurts me that I was forced to silence this part of me for so long, and it hurts that I probably wouldn't have gotten so disabled if I could have gotten help earlier, but I am much happier now. I say this because from my church's perspective, I left the church and then immediately "became" disabled. They think God punished me. I don't care what they think, but I do think things like this is why Christians want to blame things like disability on not "believing in god enough."

⚠️kind of a vent⚠️ My best friend has gotten into religion a lot more, and I'm proud of her for it! She really believes in it and it seems to help her tremendously. I've been struggling with mental health, and she has helped me through it a lot. We often have conversations regarding my depression and such, but as much as I'm proud of her for being more religious, I wish she would understand that religion is seriously not something I myself enjoy being a part of. I see how it helps others, but I really don't care for it. And it sucks, because I feel like it's very slowly pushing us apart since the last few times we've had conversations about mental health, it has ended in her telling me to try turning to God. Or try praying. She asks me why I don't like religion and I don't have a real answer for her, it just makes me really uncomfortable. It honestly hurts a little bit because I feel like shes giving up on me. And once recently she's asked if I wanted to talk about religion, to which I said no. She respects that and doesn't shove it down my throat, but I can't build up the confidence in me to tell her that bringing up religion when I'm struggling hurts me more than it helps. I'm naturally a people pleaser so it's really hard to say "no" when I need to. So I just listen to her religion and God talks and "agree", when I kind of want to cry.

Sadly, that kind of behaviour and hyper sexuality at such a young age is usually due to some form of CSA whether it was acts committed against them or having seen /been made to watch acts by others. The way she spoke about it definitely sounds to me like she has been a victim of SA as a young child (and maybe ongoing as she got older even). This could also make sense why she now says she finds power in "purity" (though it honestly annoys me when chastity and purity are conflated, just because you're being chaste doesn't mean you're "pure"). I feel sad for her: it almost seems she's gone from being a victim of SA to being a victim of religious brainwashing.
@audreydoyle5268

No, we ain't ignoring it. It's perfectly natural. It's why we do it so young, because it's normal for toddlers to explore themselves. We're taught in Early Education to redirect them when they do it in public though, and once they can speak and understand speech, we tell them to do it in private at home. Developmentally, it's entirely normal and healthy.

She goes from using the word devil to enemy. Then she says the people, even christian people, who are hurt, sick, opressed, depressed, and poor are sinners. That is so messed up. She's basically laying out the Christian right wing agenda, telling us the truth of it. If they set out to convert all the people they say are sinners, then they can call those that don't convert to christianity the enemy and thus have reason to oppress, blame, and murder them.

But I was like why should I care, good thing then that I'm NOT a Christian and I told him that just because I do these activities, it doesn't mean my intention is worshipping entities. I do it for my mental and physical health and spirituality to oneself and the universe doesn't have to do anything with gods, demons or evil so?
