Just saw this in black n white last night with a few homie from work, had the entire theater to ourselves. Insane night definitely deserves a watch if you’ve seen it in color 10/10

I saw it 5 times in color and once in B&W. It took 6 viewings to get through it without tearing up, with the exception of the final scene. When she asks "Is your war finally over" she's fully giving him permission to finally start living again, and you can almost physically see the weight finally lifted from his shoulders. I highly recommend seeing this more than once, because the first time occupies you with subtitles, but the more you see it, the more you can pay less attention to subtitles, and more attention to the cinematography and acting and really enjoy the details that make this movie great.

2nd comment; black rain is a form of fallout from a nuclear blast. Agreed, that was one of the most gut-wrenching moments of the film. His rage that this monster seems to keep following and killing people in ever larger numbers, as well as Noriko, is more than he can bear, and that was his moment of resolve.
