I loved this movie. Cast was amazing. CGI was great. There was freaking fighter jets on the Brooklyn bridge. Godzilla was lean and badass. The logo was dope. The roar was iconic. The cinematography was great. People that hate on this movie didnt watch it at the correct age at the correct time. Better than jurassic world 2 or 3 (jurassic park 1 and jurassic world were the two best dinosaur movies of all time).

So if I may, most of the people that didn’t like this movie are mostly the ones who grew up with the old school Godzilla movies. And those movies did have a certain lore of Godzilla if you will. It’s kinda evolved over time and yea he did at first start off a just a monster created from nuclear radiation but still he had a certain character to him. This movie kinda ignores most of that at least until the cartoon. And after watching the OG movies I kinda understand them, although I do still appreciate this version, it tried something different. But in terms of an American Godzilla movie I more prefer the more recent ones.

I watched a lot of Godzilla as a kid, but I remember adoring this one; one thing that this movie gets right versus modern monster movies is that the perspective is centered around the people. You're on the ground with them experiencing the carnage, seeing Godzilla from a human view. It makes him (her...?) a lot more scary, but also a lot more realistic and tangible. The way the cars jumped, the boats falling from the sky, the chaos as people ran at camera-eye view... it was a really well done film, and modern Godzilla movies could learn from it instead of continuously keeping the camera at the monster's perspective.

I was so excited to see something a little less comedy and a little more cosmic horror from the American Gojira movie but that's not really what we got. Shin Godzilla was more my speed, but I appreciate this movie cared about showing some human level horror.

i was 10yrs old when i saw this. 1:35 still gives me goosebumps. Godzilla entrance was epic. We were used to Japanese Godzilla entrance where he comes in from the water all slowly like Tommy's Megazord from Power Rangers. But this gave us a raw gritty version of that from the POV ground level. It hit differently. Felt real.

If this movie is filmed now, most of the bystanders would probably be pulling out their phones and taking videos themselves instead of running away. The guy with the hat was the only one with a camera. Films like this can be like time capsules.

Whether you liked this movie or not, this is one of the first things that come to mind when we think about 90s cinema

the coolest godzilla design. the classic roar, a smart zilla, great pratical effects to go with the cgi, only bad thing was not having the atomic breath and the us military killing it.

This movie made Godzilla look like an extended Jurassic Park dinosaur. The 2014 edition really brought the "God" into the Zilla. Especially when it had to fight that flying MUTO, which was far more spooky in its appearance and sounds.

The animated series that came from this movie was great, I kinda compared it to the way the clone wars made the star wars prequel saga better.

I watched the original American version of Godzilla in 1960 on channel 9 KHJ Saturday night Sci-Fi theater with Raymond Burr, but this one is my favorite one that made me laugh.
