He seems like he has vast knowledge of firearms, so I wonder if he was in the military for a few years. 26:28, When she says, “This is what Bode wants”, she means she knows Cal’s rage and need to punish someone for Cere’s death will distract him long enough so he can escape with his daughter. Cal here has killed or hurt plenty of people, but only to survive or defend himself and others and not out of indulgence or at the expense of his overall objective. 2:02, Cal getting distracted by his desire to avenge fallen allies is how he missed an opportunity to escape, which endangered his remaining allies. This kind of oversight is why Jedi are taught to control their emotions in the first place, otherwise the dark side will drive them insane and make them inefficient and self-destructive. Also, if I’m not mistaken, revisiting the area later reveals an “echo” point of this officer being throttled to death by Vader, something Cal and the officer himself predicted would happen due to his failures, meaning Cal sparing him wasn’t out of mercy, but just so he could stop himself from letting the dark side in and further influence him like it did Dagan and Bode. And even beyond that, at this point in the Empire’s reign, the majority galactic citizens (especially the social elite) bought into Imperial propaganda that painted Jedi and Rebels as terrorists, meaning Cal’s actions could easily be used to fuel that propaganda and motivate people to support the Empire even harder in exchange for them getting rid of the people that supposedly threaten their safety.

I read the book that takes place between both games. Cal gets beat to crap at the end of it, and his arm gets slashed pretty good, so I was convinced that the first several hours of this game would be "Cal got injured pretty bad, so he's on light duty and needs PT before he's back to where he was before." So glad they didn't do that, but it would have been funny.

yeah I've always found the whole dark/light side thing like weirdly moralistic. But the general concept is that using the force to harm someone who isn't going to harm you is bad. Even if that guy is a worse guy. It's why I find the Ronin a compelling character, he uses the dark side to hunt down Sith. It's also why I like seeing other Force religions because sometimes they hit you with shit like "the force is a spectrum of emotion, there is no good or evil there simply is." and those guys get to use force lightning, so I'm gonna assume they're the correct religion.
