When I first started watching your brilliant videos you were all about the Iwatas et al. I got that, you're a pro painter. I'd had Iwatas, but switched to H&S, I was happy with build quality and atomisation but there was that minor trigger/paint delivery issue. I fitted the trigger assembly from my CRP Evolution to my CRP Infinity and that was a smoother feel, but there was still the paint delivery trigger issue. Then you came up with your hack and I knew then that my H&S could go from 90% - 100%. I love em, they don't cease to amaze and flatter my efforts😊👍✌️😄 This is a great demo, compare and contrast video, the H&S do atomisation better, softer, but I think, out of the box, Iwatas may feel better on the trigger, plus more subtle in delivery of paint (that gets less so with your H&S trigger/seal hack though and then the paint delivery control is as good or better than the Iwata - as you demonstrate)👍✌️💜 H&S are more cost effective in Europe too. I think I was one of the first railway modellers to start using H&S and my Infinity was photoed in the corner next to a model I built for an article. I had several haters with ancient Badgers etc taking the mickey out of my 'posh, fiddly small needle/nozzle AB', how wrong could the uninitiated be🙄🙄😄😄 Iwata advertised heavily in model railway magazines, nowadays H&S advertise too - if more railway modellers knew how easy they are to clean and use, more would airbrush. Side and bottom feed cups can be a chore, I had an issue with my Paasche recently (I clean my brushes spotlessly) but with a bottom feed cup, poorer quality chrome finish, me experimenting with a beautiful colour, but none airbrush paint, albeit well and properly improved/thinned, it plasticised very quickly 💔🤬. So a blast of cleaner, back pressure etc didn't clean it out, it was out with the cleaning brushes etc to do a deep clean all due to the feed tube, 20 psi and moderately warm conditions. That was session over, more time spent cleaning an easy to clean hosepipe of an ancient airbrush. The answer? I should have used my H&S Evolution CRP with a 0.4/O.5 set up (or smaller), easy to manage and clean. Lesson learned, I don't paint every day, but have been airbrushing since the mid 1970s and I hate it when it goes wrong - that threw me a curve ball (the Paasche might go back into deep storage!). I'm happy with my three H&S', just starting to do the refinement hack for a few £s too. I've done a couple of personalising hacks too, but that's just personal preference. Build quality for Iwata and H&S are on a par, but as you say the H&S brushes are easier to clean, that's ideal for me. I've had Iwatas too, but H&S are my favourite, can't see me wanting to change any time soon. I use Paasche H and/or Millennium, or a GP50 Sparmax for large scale models, Eg for primers, base coats etc, but 80% of the time it's H&S all the way for detail work etc. I could see me, pretty much going all H&S in fact💜✌️👍😊 I'll sit back and await a tirade from Iwata lovers😲😄😄 Each to their own, no value judgements made, and H&S are owned by the same parent company as Iwata so take yer pick and pay yer money ✌️✌️💜😄

I love my Grafo T1 0.15mm needle size and I just got the conversion parts to make it a side feed the T2 and the metal cup collet with the 3.mil metal cups, I also got the siphon connector for glass for the 15ml glass cups for the T3 model I just need to purchase the 15mil glass cups now. and and I'll have all 3 editions the problem is that H and S stop making this series and the cool thing about this model is you don't have to push the trigger down for air to release you just pull trigger back and it releases air and paint.

Spitting afterwards, very annoying! always making me think it was me. I'm very surprised the micron is also having hiccups considering the needle size is a bit bigger than H&S!. Iwata needs to hire you! great unbiased review! should I but the Takumi? I have my doubts now! Just a quick question, can the H&S Evolution Silverline be upgraded to an almost Infinity. I noticed they both have the same airbrush head and there's a 0.15mm kit if possible this will make the H&S more of an affordable option. Great unbiased advice thank you 😊

Short version : yes, but... Long version : ... just so you know, the sivlerline is an Evolution (non CR+ version, so it has a nickel finish... check if you are sensible to nickel). The silverline that has some added parts that could be bought separatly (a fPc valve and a paint regulator that is simpler thant the quick fix paint regulator of the Infinity). There is no difference between the Evolution (nickel) and Infinity (nickel) bodies (except that it is written evolution or infinity), the differences are in the waist (the middle part where the ininity has has an added screw to regulate the trigger tension... this infinity part is a bore as it need a special tool to take off... the tool is small and easily lost). The different waists meens that most backs are not interchangeable. All needle kits are interchangeable between Ultra, Evo & Infini, Evo / Infini CR+ and AL+, and the 0.6 needle kit from the Colani. The CR+ Evolution and Infinity is a body that is 2 mm longer than the non CR+ nickel body, with 3 teflon rings in stead of 1 (the 1 teflon ring of the nickel version does the job perfectly well...) and chrome finish (the only difference between Evo and Infini is : it is written Evolution CR+ or infinity CR+ on it) and the back parts are 2 mm shorter than the nickel version. The AL+ is also she same body but made out of aluminium (lighter) and painted black. It is possible to add fPc valves to any model, and there is an optional (but expensive) quick fix for the Evolution and another one for the Evolution CR+ waist that is I must say really beautifull and have good ergonomics. With H&S nearly everithing is customizable... But H&S only makes crappy triggers except for the Ultra that is excellent (nickel only, but compatible on Evo/Infini and also the Evo/Infini CR+ and AL+), and the Ultra 2024 trigger (chrome, but not compatible with any other model). I advise to wait until next year, it is probable H&S will come up with newer models with better triggers (we can dream, it is maybe 100 years they only do bad airbrushes triggers)... so either buy a newer model if it is better, or wait until current models will have their price drop and change or mod the trigger, or buy anonther brand that works fine out of the box (like any other brand, even some cheep chinese stuff, has a better trigger than Evo / Infini CR+ or nickel).

Been selling H&S in my shop for about 12yrs now, and no one believes me that a $360CDN H&S Infinity can out perform the Iwata which is closer to $600CDN here. I have no experience with the Micron, knew it was a side feed, but thought the feed came out of the bottom of the cup, the fact that it has to siphon the paint up a tube, kind of makes it like a half siphon feed. Probably gets the paint up better than a true bottom feed, but still, you need a certain amount of air pressure to get that paint out of the cup. Crazy thing, in the end, both companies are owned by Iwata-Medea. Iwata allows H&S to run their own show, but in the end, they are their parent company.

Honestly, if you have done that to the Evolution, pretty much the only thing that would be different other than the finish is the needle limiter handle. Even with that, if you wanted one, they will mate up with the Evolution fine. I think the only other thing missing would be the trigger tensioner.

Interesting comparison Rob, from a total airbrush noob I would say it's a no brainer that the Infinity is the better gun, all I can compare it to is the Iwata WS400 series 2 and mine cost me around £620 and it's a great well made gun but is it any better than my GTI ProLite which is just over half the price🤔 I don't think it is, like most things these days you pay more just for the name🙄🤑😄

Micron is much better, trigger response is so much better and consistent. Inconsistent trigger ruins art. Also infinity shoots more air so if you're in close doing detail its going to shoot back in your face. Testing doing a project is a better test of an AB

If only they fixed the damn trigger and needle chuck/spring housing wiggle I'd love my H&S's. Then again you can get a creos cheaper and it just works The infinity puts out a lot more airflow so it pulls paint better but it shoots it back and oversprays more and doesn't work as well for detail. It’s not a fair comparison. You’re using different setups for each brush. You’re using a suction feed vs. a gravity feed, that means your paint mix needs to be different. Been a painter for 35+ years and I can paint anything that moves from a T-38 to a lowrider SoCal custom. Your test is flawed and your findings are suspect.

You haven't really proved anything to be honest. I own an infinity and a micron cm-b2(the gravity feed one) and the micro perform better every single time. What you are experiencing is just unusual. You may have an obstruction, which happens all the time with low quality paint. Why would you test an airbrush that is meant to be used for very fine detail work with cheap paint? Don't know. Also keep putting your fingers on the needle every few seconds, constantly blowing air into the airbrush is just bad. The airbrush is not meant to do that. The the micron has a lower air speed than the infinity, which makes it superior for detail work, because you can get more upclose to your work with lower psi, and tinner paint (that's why you don't want to use cheap paint). Especially with miniature painting you can't beat that with any other airbrush on the market. The micron has a better trigger response with a much more consistent paint output. Test it with some golden high flow paint. I bet you are going to get very different results.
