2-Minute Warning

Күн бұрын

After a small break, I've been working for quite a few days now trying to perform a small live set (actually it took me more time than expected to set this up 😅).
I'd be happy to know if you enjoyed the set (and the format 😉).
The set consists of 3 tracks already published on the channel (035- Kaoss ; 021- Black Box | Part 1 ; 065- 909) and 2 semi-improvised new tracks (actually built around 2 different patterns sleeping on my Digitone).
The video/track was recorded in one shot, with some light post-editing, mixing/mastering done in the box.
* Hardware used *
- DRUMS : Roland TR-6S
- BASS : Roland SE-02 + Pill Pedal (Input 1) + Death by Audio Apocalypse & Rooms
- PADS : Dreadbox Nymphes + Pill Pedal (Input 2) + Zvex Instant Lo-Fi Junky + Eventide H9 (Dualverb & Ultratap effects)
- Elektron Digitone + Korg KP3+ Kaoss Pad + Red Panda Particle 2
‪@ArturiaOfficial‬ ‪@Elektronomia‬ ‪@Dreadbox-synths‬
00:00 Kaoss (Intro)
02:34 Black Box (Part1)
05:23 Impro1 (New)
08:52 Impro2 (New)
11:54 909 (Outro)
If you enjoyed this video and would like to see some more, please feel free to like comment / like / subscribe :)
Thanks!

Thanks a lot! 🙏 For the last month of 2022, I'm trying something new/different where I'll be posting shorts each 5 days. As you are enjoying the music here, I was saying to myself that it might be the same for your music 😀)

Hey thanks for your feedback, appreciate it! 🙏 Indeed, the instruments are synced by MIDI through USB here 😉 It's my DAW which is acting as the USB MIDI hub here (and was also used to record the sound coming from the instruments).
@2MinuteWarning
@2MinuteWarning Жыл бұрын
@V3nom7
@V3nom7 Жыл бұрын
@2MinuteWarning
@2MinuteWarning Жыл бұрын

I’d really like to see the routining for a live set. Does it all get put into a mixer and then to the front of house? Best way to transport this?
@2MinuteWarning
@2MinuteWarning 4 ай бұрын
Hi, there are different routing and setup possible, it really depends on what you want to do 😉 You must mainly think about 2 things: - How to sync all the instruments? (i.e. defining the master clock and the slaves) - How to mix the audio? For the latter, indeed an audio mixer is needed. In this recording it is my DAW which is acting as the master clock and my soundcard as the mixer (easier when you want to record the audio and mix etc. afterwards). But could easily go full dawless if needed 😉

I really enjoyed your video and thank you. I have only just got my kspro and a bit disappointed. It is advertised as being able to control up to four synths. Yes you can plug four synths in but you cannot control all four simultaneously which is why I bought it. Arturia said it was not designed to be used that way. I fail to see the use of the four tracks? If you have time, please enlighten me as I feel a bit sore about it. Perhaps I am intending to use it the wrong way? Thanks again for you excellent video.
@2MinuteWarning
@2MinuteWarning 6 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed my video 😀 Yes you can control 4 synths simulteanously (that's what I'm doing here and in my other videos 😉). You just have to assign a different MIDI channel to each of your synths. For example: - Synth1 set to receive on MIDI channel 1 and KSP's track 1 set to send on MIDI channel 1 - Synth2 set to reveive on MIDI channel 2 and KSP's track 2 set to send on MIDI channel 2 -Synth3 set to... Etc. With this setup you'll be able to send different patterns to the 4 synths at the same time (if that's what you were planning to do? 😉)

@@2MinuteWarning Thank you so much for getting back to me. I have got my four synths wired configured as you describe with seperate channels for each synth but I cannot see which buttons to press to make all four tracks play at once? I am a newbie so its not obvious to me. I am reading the 169 page manual again and again but it does not explain this? Sorry for my dumbness. I am 74!!!
@2MinuteWarning
@2MinuteWarning 6 күн бұрын
Always a pleasure trying to help someone! And hats off for doing this at 74, I'm quite impressed! You need to record a pattern on each track of the KSP first (either by recording in real time by pressing record then play, either in step mode by pressing record and then playing some notes on the keyboard). Once you've recorded a pattern on each track (for example pattern playing the Bass, Chords, Lead etc.). You just hit play on the KSP abd all tracks which does not have an empty pattern, will play the associated instrument. Hope it helps? 😉
@petercane6376
@petercane6376 6 күн бұрын
@@2MinuteWarning Aha! I think I get it now. So there has to be a "sequence" loaded on each track which will play the associated synth connected to that track! I was trying to play the kspro with four synths plugged in, one to each track with seperate midi channels but without a sequence loaded. Arturia need to make this abundantly clear me thinks. I am very grateful to you for helping me out. I think other newbies are under the same impression as me judging by the questions asked in google. Maybe worth a video in itself to make this clear. Might just be " old" me though. Thank you tons!!!
@2MinuteWarning
@2MinuteWarning 5 күн бұрын
Yes that's it 😀👍 The KSP is a controller and sequencer. You can use it to play and control in real time your synths or to record then play "sequences" (=patterns) on your instruments 😉 For instance in this "from scratch" video, you can see me record a pattern in step mode on Track 3 first, then hit play for it to play for it to play. I then select Track 2 and record a pattern in real time, etc. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebGZbNp3tqiaqok.htmlsi=BWmn_kkIp8gzR3rU
