Gojira - The Cell drum cover off of their newest album, Magma. Wow. That verse beat is intense haha. The double bass pattern is pretty interesting, with two distinct parts. The first is more difficult, with repeating bass drum triplets. The second has constant bass drum doubles with flowing snare accents. The timing in switching between them and the prechorus is also very challenging.
Although this song is pretty damn heavy, I loved the emotional chorus. "Get me out of here" really strikes me as a meaningful, passionate lyric. I have a lot of respect for Gojira's versatility in heavyness, emotion, and groove. I might just be done covering songs from Magma, at least for now. I'm still considering an album medley but I'm sure you guys have heard enough Gojira this summer. I know I've listened to the album many, many times.
