The MvsC1 hiddens are generally unbalanced. But even I can tell this isn't a favorable match up for Wolvie and Strider.

I actually really like Michelle Heart assist with GWM because of how long that assist locks you down and the multiple angles unto which it can lock you down.

In my opinion, the best special partner assist to use against Gold War Machine is Michelle Heart. There's a reason why I don't depend on Colossus and Psylocke as my main special partner assists, especially when I use team Strider and Wolverine back when I use to play this game competitively in the arcades. Yeah, both Strider and Wolverine are my mains too. 🙂

Always great fun fighting a character that completely breaks the rules of the game.

My first experience watching MvC on GGPO was seeing both players using GWM and IM and trading infinites because of one button dashes. Crazy stuff.

Remember when the developers hide variations of the characters inside the game? Now we have to rely in the modder community to improve the last entry of the game because they won't try to fix or improve MvsC: Infinite.

Regular War Machine is enough of a problem. I have never beaten the first mvc on Dreamcast without codebreaker cheats since I always fight him before Onslaught.

If two gold war machines do their crouching heavy punch at the same time, it will hit both of them nonstop till one of them dies. If you do it in training mode you have to reset.

GWM and MSHvSF's Mega Zangief are friends of mine 🙂 The weakness to both is a good beam super - he has to take those hits if his character's there. That keeps GWM vs. Wolverine as a 9-1 matchup - Wolverine has Fatal Claw, which may not be ideal and has to work around GWM's War Destroyers or a character switch, but he's taking the damage. (GWM vs. Spidey *is* a 10-0. Spidey's web ball does pixels, his web throw/Ultimate Web Throw does pixels, his Maximum Spider does pixels and you're eating a super, you lose trades, and your only workable super is Crawler Assault which is going to trade with a super.)

Gold War Machine was my favorite cheese character as a kid. I didn't really block as a 5 year old so to me it just gave me a power boost and super armor. I played mvc1 for certain years. My counter to gold war machine is regular war machine/strider.. all you have to do is duo since gwm can't block is easy damage. Even if they tag in they are vulnerable to getting hit.

He picks Commando bc of the anti-air super that will also bring u down into the rocket barrage. It’s a tactic I used to use back in the day. HK launch on the opposite side…..& and it’s the pain game afterwards!

Some strats I have for Gold War Machine would be to hit them with the launcher and cancel into the super jump (just hold up). I played Morrigan a lot, and spamming beam supers works, but they'll super jump to avoid a lot of damage :/

Love MVC1. They characters they introduced here are bonkers. Jin strider commando rockman venom. War machine was newish. Combining Ken akuma to ryu was cool in saving character spots. Also enabling mech zangief as an activation.

although would you know if there is a history or something behind wolverines dive kick? from xmen cota it is a kick down directly, xmen vs sf and mvh it is somewhat an angle kick. in marvel vs sf it is a kick down directly but cannot combo with another high kick. in marvel vs capcom it is a direct kick down but can combo with another high kick

Mega Man and Gambit do well against Gold War Machine. Gambit's supers are almost impossible for him to avoid if you set them up where he can't react with a super jump, and Mega Man's Mega Buster and Tornado Hold are really hard for him to deal with. Michelle Heart assist gives him problems too.

This is why I would favor Hulks Gamma Tornado throw actually connecting with Golden War Machine that's how it should work

All you need is a decent beam super that does good damage. GWM is so slow he won't be able to get out of the way in time, and he can't block, so he just has to tank it.

Watching these Gold War Machine matches, is really fun. I remember playing this game in the late 90's, seeing those secret characters, and having alot of fun. But yeah, Gold War Machine, Red Hulk and Red Venom are super cheap. That is one of the reasons why gamers, love this game more than MvC2.😄

Imagine if it's 2022, the only game you play is MvC1 still (which makes you weird) on Fightcade and Justin just called you "sweaty" LMFAO

the thing that make GWM a threat is his ability to win trades hard and combo off of them. that's solvable. good GWM players defend well and won't let you grab them. they try to create situations where the only way to damage them is to trade. but GWM's attacks aren't perfect. if you can find ways to deal free damage to GWM that are inexpensive and replicable, you basically have him beat. doing that forces him to go on the offensive, which has far more holes. just about every GWM runs Colossus assist because they don't know how to fight in such a way that covers the holes in his offense. an example of a good strategy to use with the team you have: with Wolverine, you learned about the st.HP already. cr.f.HP goes underneath GWM st.MK. you might eat Colossus, but it's a weak punish in that situation. there's also ways around that (drill claw, super, tag, duo, assist). if paranoid, could land the cr.f.HP then either drill claw (whether you landed a hit or not) or hyperjump guard (hit only). when you're close quarters, stomp kick (if not reacted to) could get you 2-3 easy heavy hits. these methods allow you to attack GWM without taking much damage. with Strider, you figured it out already for the most part. use the first Ouroboros you've got to force GWM to tag so you can focus on killing his partner. if he doesn't tag, use repeated st.MP/cr.MP. watch out for counterattacks: the murder laser (cr.HP while GWM is being hit, very damaging if it hits you), tag, duo, and assist (assist only if you're low on HP). if he does tag, don't use meter on the second character. fight him straightforward and save the meter until you reach 2.666 meter. always try to set up unpunishable Ouroboros at that point. the one bar you're saving is for use during his duo. this method allows you to ruin the entire GWM-centered strategy. lastly: trust me, if he used DWM, he would not be able to beat you. he's using Commando to strengthen the duo. don't underestimate characters in this game, they've all got smoke to give. even Roll and Zangief
