I think I started shaving at 12 or 13 too. My mom didn’t teach me, she was against it for some reason. So, my grandma taught me. I had little toilet paper spots all up and down my legs the first time I tried it😂

My grandma had 2 neighbors who were sisters that lost their husbands to death. Ellen added onto her sister’ (Josephine, Jo’s) house. So those 3 ladies became known as The Golden Girls amongst their other friends. One of their Sarcastic friends told them that they were no longer going to call them The Golden Girls, rather they were going to refer to them as The Golden Sluts. Of course my grandma and her 3 best friends were anything but slutty. They were just 3 old ladies in their 80s who were upstanding, well respected older women who had only been intimate with their husbands. They would tease my grandma and called her “Blanche” because she had had 3 husbands who had died, so she had “been” with more men (husbands) than the rest of them. Those 3 women were always going places together and enjoyed each other’s company and friendship. The 2 sisters died within a day of each other and it was about that time when my grandma needed help with day to day life, so she sold her house of 50 years to the day and moved in with my dad. She lived with him until she needed 24 hour care. Dad moved her into assisted living with 24 hour skilled nursing. Dad lived on his own until he too needed help. He moved in with my wife and myself until September of 17. He then moved in with my sister to give us a break. Dad moved back into an attached 1 bedroom. 1 bath apartment with a full kitchen. Dad lived as independently as he could until early 21 and that’s when he needed 24 hour skilled nursing, so we decided to hire the nursing staff to help us take care of dad until he died in December of 21. The apartment has now been changed into an Airbnb and will remain as one until my 82 year old mom needs help. Then she too will move into the apartment. It’s almost 800 sq ft and we’ll be there for her until she passes an away as well.

A little bit tmi but I started shaving when I was 10 because I was scared about hair growing in the pubic area. Nobody told me hair would grow there. Now I'm just pissed at all the stuff I had to learn on my own because no one told me anything. Again sorry for the tmi.

I was surprised you can shave above the knee too since I have no hair there. I shave like 4 times a year since my hair grows slow and I don’t get a lot of it anyways. When I saw this scene and they mentioned shaving above the knee I was surprised too like Rose. My mother never told me because she never shaves. Why? Easy. No hair to shave 😶

My mom taught me how to shave my underarms when I was 11 because I was starting to wear sleeveless leotards for ballet class. All the girls in my class were shaving their underarms. She taught me how to shave my legs when I was 12. I am usually shaving once or twice a week. I'm on team Blanche for smooth underarms and legs!!!
