Loki’s first private session. He’s just a typical high energy dog that pulls his owner around. These wonderful people drove 7 hours for their first private session. My focus will be on educating the owner to train Loki herself

This is so valuable to any person who even thinks about owning a dog. Thank you for putting this out and showing all the work. It's also great of the owners to share this with everyone, sometimes it's not easy to watch yourself making mistakes but it shows their want to improve for the dog and they did well, also thats one nice dog!

I listened this morning to the whole (almost 4 hour 👍) podcast with Tom, that was lovely! Now I'm here and I just want to tell you that this video was so great to watch. I love that you see and say repeatedly what a handsome fellow Loki is 🐕🥰 I met too many dog trainers in real life that are so "detached" and cold - you never have the feeling they actually care for your dog or yourself. I happily subscribed and will be back to watch all your other videos too 😊

Golden! This is exactly the kind of content that the world needs and it's no surprise that Larry Krohn is the one person offering it. Thank you and please, please do more of these types of videos. Dogs will have better lives for it.

Incredibly helpful, thank you so much for posting a whole session like this! And thank you to the owners for agreeing to it. I'm sure there's hundreds of thousands of owners struggling with these exact same issues and it's so valuable to see where the timing is off or what doesn't work, because that's the same thing so many of us get wrong.

This is such a clear, concise, easy to understand way to train every dog's human. Thank you for putting these out there. You have no idea how much money and time you just saved me in training my great dane puppy SDiT. He's 11 weeks today and I've already got him crate trained, potty trained, sit and starting down using old methods I had learned. I was planning on enrolling in puppy training classes to help reinforce the foundation.....But then I came across your videos, and I'm seeing how much easier and more fun this is going to be from this day forward for the both of us, I don't feel I need anyone to help me do it now. And I can get away from bribing with food. I love this!!!!! Thank you THANK YOU!!!

Keep doing it like this. Where you can see the owner take out the dog so we can see how bad the dog actually is. And we can watch the owner for mistakes. Seeing the dogs first reaction to you also helps us make more sense of his demeanor while he's training with you. Always do new client videos like this.

Very informative video and many thanks to the lady who let you film her. I'm sure many of us can identify with her with at least some parts. Personally I made the same mistake with saying 'Yes' whilst moving my hand into the treat pouch. So thank you very much for pointing it out. Please keep these videos coming. I would love to watch the journey of Loki to the end, as I have similar problems with my own dog (Boxer/Staffy cross, 104 pounds) - he is literally TOO friendly and will ignore me for the chance to say 'Hello' to a person or animal. Not many videos online about super friendly dogs which can have problems too.

Hi Larry, great video on the basics. I've trawled through almost all your videos from the very beginning and just can't find one where you explain the placeboard. Here in Denmark not many people use it, so I would be grateful if you would at some point make a video where you explain: why, to and how Placeboard is good both for everyday dog owners but also for someone like me who trains and competes in IGP

Can someone please explain to me how in the end I convert all these exercises into a calm walk on a leash in an urban environment without the dog lunging out at stimuli? Can someone please give me information on how after I load the markers I can walk the dog on a regular leash on walks. My dog know markers but when he sees other dog he start to fixate and lunging. Unfortunately, 3 previous trainers who worked with me on obidience exercises did not help me at all when it came to reactivity on a leash. I really appreciate Larry Krohn and wish he will put more vidieo like this in the progress

I used to tell students in their very first lesson..”it’s not my job to teach you how to play this instrument, it’s my job to teach you how to teach yourself to play this instrument. I can show you every trick, every exercise, but it’s up to you to get in the practice room and figure this stuff out and then come back with questions/problems etc.” Critical thinking..not easy..

Curious the purpose of the release command when the "yes" was a release from doing what you'd asked. (Esp when the "stay" or "wait" is seen as redundant.) Thanks! Great video!!
@sportysbusiness

'Yes' means they've done the specific task you asked. It doesn't mean they can bugger off and leave you, just if they were asked to sit they can now get out of the sit. The release command lets them bugger off!

Yes!!!!! It helps the dog to calm down. If he calms down he will focus. If he focuses he will listen better to the owner. And therefore he will be easier to train. It really really really works.

He’s teaching the human how to communicate clearly w/ her dog. Its not about any skill or position. Teach the human - how to teach the dog - to learn. Verbal Show Mark Reward There’s so much to learn from here.

@@dogtrainerHillaryYes, it is right, but in the end, how do you convert all of this into a calm walk on the leash without the dog exploding/lunging/fixate/ towards stimuli? The dog can be excellently obidient understands markers perfectly, but when walking in the city he can lunge out on stimuli and if you tell him "no" with a correction -leash pup in some cases you can creat activation I think this is what most trainers lack in understanding. And a huge thank you to Larry for sharing the video, not everyone can go to the seminars, for example I live in another country so any information like this helps global dogs and owner.
