@@ChinChooReviews The hot and spicy version is actually really good and undoubtedly what our local takeaway uses, it's way better than the other varieties which I didn't enjoy very much. My son is at uni and uses it a lot to knock up an easy quick dinner and that's helped him gain confidence as he finds his way around a kitchen by himself.

Didn’t know you had a second channel (I do now!) Only found your first channel recently, have enjoyed the Bird’s original custard secret ingredient a couple of times since, and I’m loving your content! And I had some idea what sort of ingredients I should be looking for in my local Seoul Plaza, that also sells a range of the Chinese products you’ve talked about. Real people who know what they’re talking about, and I’m definitely in the Choo fan club already! What a legend!

Hi chin and choo, been waiting for this. This is as close to the takeaway as I can get and it's so easy to make although sometimes get the dilution wrong. I use the hot and spicy but it's still not that hot and I've tried the madras which just tastes of a Chinese curry. Goldfish is a British company too set up by a Chinese takeaway owner. Under £2 at my local Asian supermarket.

Love Choo's comment about just having the sauce without rice, and Chin's comment about the sauce needing chilli. That's pretty much what I do. I buy this sauce and make chicken curry wraps, adding some fresh chilli and/or a squeeze or two of sriracha and the wraps taste incredible. Not quite as good as proper takeaway curry but it's a close second. My preference may sound odd, I know, but as Chin says it's all subjective...! 👍 Love your videos guys! Thanks! 👌

I have been using this and it's really good taste just like the take away but I use it the same way you did on your beef curry video and you're recipe for the marinade for the beef too and works very well.when I followed the instructions it's too thick need to add extra water. It can be very salt for me so I added no salt on my meat or in the rice if you don't like too much salt and it was good. Mind I tend to put a lot of salt in my food. It's a good short cut instead of making the curry paste from scratch. Taste is a personal thing I would give it a 8 but when you factor how easy it is too use especially if I use it the way you did in your beef curry video by add oil first heating the wok then paste melting it the add hot water till desired thickness I word dive it a 10. To me it taste better that way

I've bought this before from Chinese supermarkets in Bristol & really like it. For me it's the closest one to takeaway curry sauce, which I have used. They also do a spicier version, with red colour on the packaging, instead of the orange colour on the packaging of this one. In fact they have a huge range of different style of curry sauces, including Thai & Indian curry sauces.

Goldfish also make madras curry paste and japanese curry which are pretty good. The madras is mild and needs abit of salt, to pep it up i bloom some madras curry powder in butter and add it to the sauce. The butter rounds out and melds the flavours. Never having had japanese curry no idea of how authentic it tastes, it is good flavour but again abit of salt and white pepper helps. I'll have to try the soup/stew suggestion be good to use up leftovers. Thanks for the video take care God bless.

Great video thanks! This curry paste sounds like it's definitely worth a try? Chinese curry paste has always been a dodgy choice imho, as a lot of them are very "gritty" in texture. Didn't know about this channel though, only found it this morning. I've only recently subscribed to your main cooking channel and absolutely love your videos...and your mum lol. She's 'effin adorable! And after watching your Fried Rice video, it even made me make my own!? But, I also just took the plunge and ordered some proper MSG a couple of days ago, and used it in my second batch of fried rice...and OMG!! it's like a night & day difference! You are so right about MSG making homemade fried rice really taste just like takeaway fried rice. So thankyou so much mate, as fried rice is a massive favourite of mine. And thanks to you & your mum I can finally make my own proper stuff...and loads of it too haha. Take care guys & thanks again! x

Great review - I think they also do a hot and spicy version. They also do Japanese style and a madras version.

Wel, done Chin and Choo, another superb taste test, and now ... I'm hungry again at quarter past 11 at night! Now, up until about 9 months ago or so, I had always used Wing Yip curry sauce, but then I came across Goldfish Chinese Curry Sauce in Tescos, which I really enjoyed, However, you're absolutely right, it does need a bit more salt and some chilli. Goldfish do a 'hotter' sauce as well, but I found little difference in them, and it still required more chilli for my tastebuds! The size of the container/sauce at Tesco's is 405g and it costs £2.75. Not too bad I thought. Right, I'm off to dream about noodles in a curry sauce! Cheers for now ... 😋

I love the goldfish curry sauce. We get the hot n spicy one but it's still not spicy enough for me. You can buy tubs on eBay much cheaper than Tescos btw. I bulk buy them they're great 😋
