Thanks. I have tried a lot of different Chinese curry sauce recipes and I tried this one today and loved it. I did add 5 spice x 2 tablespoons (you said desert spoon I guess you meant table) and used chicken stock instead of just water, could not find at short notice the creamed coconut so used tinned coconut cream. The flavour was very close to my favorite Uk Chinese takeaway. Oh and I used Clive of India curry powder (Australia) I made a curry, used the paste and added chicken, onion, mushrooms and peas and had with chips on the side.

Proper chinese curry uses more water (chicken stock). English style chinese curry sauce is a level below

Your right about the special flavour from the oil in a take away If a company where to make seasoned oil like in a take away they would make a killing, as it is pretty much everytime i pass the chinese take away i stop and get chips. Looking forward to a Pancake / Spring Roll video whenever it's made. My old takeaway used to make huge ones. 15cm x 7cm and thick as your wrist. I miss them. Not healthy, but delicious

Just a question: 6:44 you said this is a quick curry sauce and not the standard takeaway sauce - what is missing or different from this recipe compared to your standard takeaway recipe? Thanks again!

No peanut oil is to expensive, its almost 4 times the cost of vegetable oil so they wont use it :)

Hi guys, love your channel and I intend to give this recipe a try tomorrow - could save me a fortune! One question - I notice my local takeaways have huge stock pots of curry sauce - do they just scale up the quantities and combine loads of paste with loads of water, sugar, soy and MSG? Also, how long does it last, if made into a large quantity of sauce? Thanks and keep up the good work!

Last for a few months and that curry sauce in the big pots is used by really really cheap takeaways and pubs, its not brilliant

Love the recipe Chin, but...I just use the Mayflower one from Home Bargains, the extra hot. Stick some white pepper, salt, chilli powder and MSG in it and it’s a super super low calorie version that tastes great

The Moo if I ever open a restaurant I’ll be using MSG in some of my dressings, and I’ll put a sign up saying ‘proud to use MSG’. I think there needs to be a reaction against manufacturers pandering to completely erroneous concerns and more focus on other far more unhealthy additives.

Greatest thing ever curry and chips, doesn't matter what Chinese dish I have its got to have curry and chips with it. Will be trying this. Would you just add chilli oil and or crushed chilli to do a Singapore curry sauce ? CHEEEEESE 😂

@@ZiangsFoodWorkshop Hi, this is basically it...1/2 pint water or chicken stock (or cube) with onion slices,crushed garlic and fresh chilli,bay leaf. Pinch of 5 spice, bit of sugar. Add a good dash of milk, add madras curry powder to taste (2/4 spoons) simmer and thicken with potato flakes, add a little butter or cream if desired

you should measure out quantities with a scale. it has transformed how I do everything and you can be sure you're using same amount each time.

I've managed to get Supreme brand. Looks like fine powder rather than granules, so should be okay. Only thing I don't have is ground fennel, but I've got fennel seeds so I'll just grind my own. Making it this evening.

The closest shop bought sauce I have found is the Mayflower Curry Sauce mix. £1 and its near identical.
