My Dad had a '59 730D narrow front row crop. He had the clam shell fenders but took them off. It got sold on the farm auction in Feb. '68 for more than he paid for it new. Wish I had it now, but I have no place for it. Watching all these JD videos has given me a real desire to operate them again. Enjoy.

I just inherited a 58 730 and learning all about it. Thanks At least you show how to start and shut off the tractor. LOL As kid I drove a 720 a lot but that's been years ago.

New subscriber here and former 720 diesel owner. I used mine for grinding feed, baling hay, plowing and discing. It was a great tractor. Sold it on the farm sale for $1800. Regret no sale ing it.It is still in the area and could be purchased back but it needs a lot of work. It too was electric start. They were a power house in their day. Good job on the video. Thanks for sharing.

My 730 won’t be sold unless someone wants to pay my “it’s not for sale” price. Starts up every time even on a ten degree day.

@@goldingerfarms9357 , mine got parked in the winter. If it was 30 degrees and a cloudy day, mine wouldn't start. We used to belt it up with the 630 but my Dad grew weary of that and parked it in the back of the shed until spring. The guy that I sold it to had some young kids helping him do stuff around the farm. He asked them if they knew how to start it and they said yes. They kept cranking it over so long that they burnt the posts of of the batteries. The rear tires are bald on it now, the battery box is completely rusted out, it needs a new seat and all the bushings, a new muffler, and who knows what mechanically. That is just the stuff you see in a walk around.

Sounds like a money pit. I waited until I found a machine that I knew was in good shape and had good tires and then I bought it. One thing I have learned from too many fencerow treasures is that you should never be afraid to pay more for something that you know is good

My dad bought a 730 Diesel Row crop wide front end with a decompression pedal he tradeded it off in 1970 after it broke the crankshaft... repair was going to cost almost as much as the tractor cost new

@@goldingerfarms9357 I look very forward to the new video, tomorrow I need to get my hot water pressure washer out and go over mine from stem to stern and then I have a fuel leak on the right side of the block where that fuel line goes into the elbow which screws into the block the leak isnt bad or anything but I cant stand things that arent as they are supposed to be. Today I ordered a new tach, oil pressure gauge and coolant temp gauge so the hood is going to come off for that install then comes and oil change and then drop the coolant since it checked out to be only good to -22 I will get everything just about the way I want it and it will be time to put it away before winter sets in! I look forward to the next video! Nice job on this one!!!

It was a deal I couldn’t pass up. I have a receipt for 6 grand of engine work. I took the loader off today and then it collapsed on the jack stands as soon as I backed out from it. Live and learn I guess

That is a # 45 loader. I used to build a 120' by 50' by 20' high silage pile with a John Deere 730 every year from 8th grade through high school. And between my 11th grade and my senior year I pulled a Scott Pea combine for Green Giant, it was by far the smallest, slowest of the tractors. We would move sometimes as much as 50 miles between fields. 1973 was the last year they allowed the 730 on the Pea Crew after that they had to be 80 HP or greater and be able to travel over 18 MPH. The 730 top speed is only 12 mph.

It's all good. I did a video of one of my 520 John Deeres that I was selling. After several retakes, we noticed in the finished product that I called the tractor a 1958 520 John Deere diesel. Boy, that would be rare. Like a none of none.
So I bought ANOTHER John Deere 730 diesel...
