VW Golf V sills Endless rust - can it still be saved or is it scrap?
I have a 5 Series Golf here where the rocker panels are totally rusted. I'm trying to save the Gulf in this video. Will I be able to do it ? That's a good question.

Nice work. I need to do this repair to my Golf, but it's a big job, and I don't have any welding experience. Yours was the first video I saw in which sandpaper (2000 grit) was suggested to take care of over-spray lines. . I couldn't find any for some recent work, so I used 1500 grit. Works, but leaves some scratches and cloudiness, which I hope will come off with polishing compound. Incidentally, when you say polish with "5 meter" compound I assume you mean 5 MICRON.

Really? Perfect? Did you not see the gaps between those tack welds? The tack welds should be entirely joined up before the seams are sealed. The sills are bloody structural for crying out loud.

We do not weld through sheet metal parts. We only score points at equal intervals. The result speaks for itself.

@@homeworker-ingo yeah the result is bollocks. If you hadn't covered that shit job with filler, it would fail the MOT. It's a structural part and should be welded along the entire seam. Do it properly of bugger off.

You buy a quality item from Danske Klokkerholm, and then it turns out that your skills are no longer enough. No 90 degree corner welds. Always circle joints otherwise the weld may crack. You spot weld only. Always when a plate is cut through, it must be fully welded. There is not much safety in the event of a side collision, which is perhaps why you are working in the dark
