Everyone who watches this video just saved themselves about £200 in lessons. Driver is by far my least consistent club, I’ve even cranked up the loft to help me (I’m trying to hit more up on the ball to get better) and these sort of videos are just like gold dust. Informative but you can take this out to the course/range with you and put it into something workable. It’s like a principal based approached with outputs in mind...do X and measure Y and see how it performed vs what you expected/should see. A lot of guff on KZfaq that just state principles and do X....if we could all just repeat those videos we’d all be on tour but we can’t...queue up MC’s videos for the winning formula! More videos like this would be ideal (+course/club vlogs...love a vlog). I’d like a video on the wrists (no not wrist set thankfully lol!) just the rotation element as I struggle to know how much rotation through a shot I should be aiming for...sounds ridiculous I’m sure to most!

Thanks for this!. I’ve watched previous videos of this swing change earlier this year for you Mark but for some reason this one made it hit home for me. Immediate 5 mph ball speed gain in Skytrak with driver and employing to some extent with irons seems to gain yards while also taming draw which is my miss. I’m down from 8 to 5 via simulator pandemic work and now hopeful that a few yards can keep it moving in the right direction. Keep up the good work!

Love the visual you give of pushing into the ball of your front foot with that force being moved toward the launch monitor. I have started to use this in my own game and not only do I hit it farther but I am also shallowing the club better as a result. Keep the good instruction coming, love your channel.

was just working on this yesterday...using that right heel weight shift to a really hard finish moving weight to my left toe (like squishing the tennis ball mindset or the jam out of my jelly roll), posting my left leg & found the ball was 10 yds longer and a bit right with irons....with the driver I'm 10 - 20 yards longer. After two lessons on force mats and now a bit of self discovery, I feel like I am going back to a freer swing I had pre Ernie Els...in the 90's it was all about "keeping it in play", "swinging at 80%"...with the technically advanced ball and clubs of this era (and I m playing course with wide fairways and not penal rough) it's back to swinging for the fences

I am on the opposite end hitting my woods much better whereas with the irons I am almost always flat in attack angle and in some instances even up. Thanks for all the content you have throughout the years! Keep it going! :)

Great video Mark. Really helping me to practice effectively and explore ways to get more power. I found that after seeing a coach recently he was getting me to hit the more rotational swing and I noticed this definitely effected my power/distance and also I feel it was levelling out my angle of attack which I felt was harming my strike. I am going to try these moves to see if I can get more power back and crisp up strike.

Thanks Mark. Good explanation of the different swings required. I've been trying to get a positive AOA with the driver for a while now but it's difficult without all the fancy equipment. The single Trackman session I had told me I was 8 down with the irons and 4 down with the driver. With 104mph clubhead on the driver, I was getting 216yds carry. I'm now trying to measure my success (increasing AOA) by visually monitoring my launch and carry. Maybe it's time for a Trackman lesson.

Another great video Mark. Loving the force ideas and been working on the left toe down and forward feeling with varying success. What I noticed about the two swings was you left shoulder height. Recently I've worked on a feeling of lower left shoulder at impact for irons and its working really well. Does shoulder tilts have a impact on force in the ground? Eg just that thought does it move your weight etc. Keep the vids coming. Huge fan of the channel.

Good tech content Mark. Your description of hitting the ball harder is actually an increase of kinetic energy of the club head through increased speed (KE=0.5Mass x Veocity squared). As V is squared it has a huge effect on the resultant kinetic energy available to transfer (via strike /smash) to the ball.

G'day Mark, interesting video. You are spot on with your information but I believe the average golfer struggles to increase their vertical force given other swing issues they are managing. Personally I have never been able to improve my 'vertical force' and have a repeatable swing. I can assure you I tried! Swinging too quickly was my biggest issue! Early this year I decided to completely rebuild my swing and moved to a single-plane, not the Moe Norman version. I can now control the tempo of my swing and the length of the backswing. Of course I have needed to learn to swing much slower to achieve this. I now have far less moving parts and do not need to rise up during the downswing. I am swinging on plane and my ball striking is unbelievably good. I am over 60 years old and am so excited about what golf has in store for me. Cheers and keep up the good work. ⛳🇦🇺🇦🇺

Mark - fantastic video - one comment. Taken from my tournament tennis forehand, I find that I can get my 105 Driver speed to 112-113 if I rotate my Right Foot open to the 1 o'clock position because this allows my Right Knee to OPEN during the squatting force down into the ground downswing (Sam Snead knees) and thus I can get even more Upwards force from my front Left Foot/Toe (the jumping tennis topspin forehand) part. I experimented a lot - it's somewhere between 12:45 & 1 (Right foot) where this happens.

Very good vid and instructions Mark! I guess the first and most important skill with Irons is to learn to hit down and compress the ball. With wedges and into 9-7 irons I discovered that a more rotational swing gives more control on strike and direction and helps to attack pins. 2nd most important skill is to learn to hit more up with the driver with an Avg Swingspeed I have to gain carry, lower spin, centered strike and control direction and curvature. Thanks! Now I understand what vertical forces are for and how they are produced thru groundpressure Excellent! I guess the Rest is hard work, sweat in the steal chamber to push the swing speed 😓

This is a brilliant video! My struggle is with the magnitude of the driver spinal tilt and the feeling I can get stranded on my trail side if the tilt’s too extreme. I also feel like that I can rotate my shoulders around my spine - lead higher than trail - and this encourages an upward path for some reason. How to balance tilt and weight distribution?

Thank you for highlighting the differences between driver and irons. I would like to see a video on the setup differences (if any) between a 3-wood hit from the tee versus the fairway. I have a much easier time hitting it off the deck and wonder why it’s more difficult for me off the tee. I imagine it’s largely due to setup. Also, I wonder how much setup issues are affected by eye dominance? I’m a right handed golfer who’s left eye dominant so it’s easy for me to register setup differences down my left arm at address. Because of this dominance, however, I’m much better at shooting rifles left handed even though I’m naturally right handed. Something to consider, might be interesting to explore.

Very interesting and you've done well to increase club speed with the vertical move ! I suppose for a conventional 2 plane swing, you do need to make vertical jump or else you'll hit the ground. I am a single plane golfer, like Moe Norman and Bryce. It is so much simpler, you don't need to think about how you are going to swing the club, you can think more about strategy and execution. I still want to implement you vertical power into my swing. Good stuff !!!
