As the annual host of the World Golf Championships - Dell Technologies Match Play, Austin Country Club presents a unique challenge to PGA TOUR players every year. Check out the best “golf is hard” moments at Austin Country Club, including chips into the water, errant tee shots and much more carnage.

The PGA TOUR heads to Austin, Texas for the only match play event on the calendar. 2021 winner Billy Horschel will return to Austin Country Club hoping to become the first player to defend the match play title since Tiger Woods in 2004, after beating 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational winner Scottie Scheffler in last year’s final. The World Golf Championships - Dell Technologies Match Play also marks the return of 2020 U.S. Open winner Bryson DeChambeau, who hasn’t played since The Farmers Insurance Open in January due to a wrist injury. The top five players in the world including Jon Rahn, Collin Morikawa, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay and Scottie Scheffler will all enter the 64-man field which will be split into 16 groups of four players for round-robin play. After round-robin play concludes, the player with the highest amount of points from each group will move onto single-elimination play, where the matches will continue until a champion is crowned.

I'm not going to lie, it's refreshing for me to watch these clips. It proves they can play to my level. Or put another way that's preferred, I can play to theirs. hahaha

This is why I've always loved match play. It allows you to spare yourself some embarrassment. I'd pick the ball up and move on to the next tee box, instead of making myself look like an amateur.

I hit some balls in Austin today and I can tell you the wind was crazy . The wind channels through the lake and hits the course pretty hard . Tommorow and the rest of the week is supposed to be calm . Golf is hard !

This is a breath of fresh air for every twice a year duffer like me. My folks had a lakehouse at nearby Horseshoe Bay and one of their championship golf courses, Ram Rock is like Austin Country club or worse. It is an undulating nightmare with creeks on both sides of nearly every fairway. And that’s the easy part! 🤣
