1. balance in the golf swing
2. the correct body movement on the way back and through
3. how to use your club head for maximum power and control
If you have any questions on the video or how to drive the ball straight then leave them in the comments box below or reach out using the contact details below

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I know this video is old, but I truly hope you see this. I’m 40 and golfed a few times in my life but I could never hit a driver. Decided to give it a go a few days ago and went to a course with some friends and just couldn’t hit the driver. Irons were ok but driver was just embarrassing. I printed out your weekly charts studied them and then tonight 4 days after the course I watched this vid and copied everything you did, went out in the yard and no kidding I am making solid contact and getting good shots into the net!!!!! Thank you so much for doing these vids!!!! LETS GO!!!!!!

The drill in this video solved two problems at on time for me. My release had been happening too late an this prevented my driver from being square when I struck the ball resulting in an evil slice. At the same time the distance was compromised because I could not generate the club head speed of which I was really capable. That slight separation between my hands on the pole suddenly allowed me to visualize what happens at the release and how to time it with my turn forward... like an epiphany! Don't get me wrong, I'm unlearning a lot of bad mechanics so I keep repeating the drill to teach my body but this one is golden, Danny. Thanks for the help!

The pole drill is incredibly effective. For several years now I've been trying to get rid of a backswing sway. Tried countless drills, saw tons of videos, took lessons... The drill immediately gave me the feeling of a proper backswing. Yesterday I played my best round in a long time. Oh how satisfying it is to hit crisp iron shots! And now, if only I could fix my putting. Thank you Danny Maude.

The putting tip worked. One look and go. Only one three putt in my last round. Sunk 3 extra long putts, one for par and two for birdie. I could not believe they went in. Still can not. And if that was not enough, the set up with the shaft behind the butt did wonders for my consistency. I clearly have a tendency to set my weight on my heals at address. Thanks again for providing golf instruction that seems taylor made for my swing faults.

I haven't even finished watching this video yet but it's very eye opening. This information is so counter to the "body swing" or "core swing" so recently popularized. This is more old school when the teaching was to swing the arms/club and the body should react to that action vs. dictating the arms and club. This should result in a much more natural swinging of the arms and releasing of the club-head for greater distance and consistency. I've often thought that the body control swing is almost cumbersome and limits the arms and club speed.

Beautiful motion Danny. I learned that I need to adjust my set up and lean forward a little more, that I can do this motion without fear of pulling off the ball with my shoulders, that I can still transfer my weight to my front foot without pushing it there, and to 'let the clubhead do the work'. Thanks. Good stuff to work on.

What I like best was this got the club out in front of me and synchronised, where my body had been outracing it (partially caused by arm run-on in the backswing. This drill tidied up my motion. I got some funny looks from the neighbours(!) but it really helped. Yesterday Sky had Nick Dougherty and Wayne Riley and CHIII on the practice tee, and they had a great camera view high, right and a forty-five degree ‘down the line’ view. Mr Riley and CHIII really got the club out in front, you saw they didn’t try to hold on to it, much like your release gets the club out in front with the big stick, it’s a great visual. It gave a really 3D view of the swing and reminded me if you are trying to ‘hold the angle’ from viewing a face on video, you are only holding it in one dimension and will come ‘off plane’. Have to swing that golf club like you are throwing, with the big stick. I hooked up my phone in a high and right view and could see really clearly how trying to ‘lag’ the club visually just goes ‘pow!’ As it doesn’t look right. Could also see how open the face was. I don’t know if you think there is any mileage in it but could you do a high and right camera view video? Thanks.

What an absolute awesome video Danny. When you started off by saying lets get back to basics i thought well this is going to be boring, not a bit of it. The balance thing is something i need to work on the second part with the stick a real eye opener. The coup de gras was you hitting the ball one handed better than i can with two. K.I.S.S. Another brilliant video. Lots of us need to focus better on these basics. I do find that when I actually give 100% focus, I strike the ball cleaner...resulting in a straighter, longer shot. Yes we have to remember to do 9,000 things before we actually hit the ball. But having that mental focus and watching your lessons Danny, we all should be able to gradually shave strokes off our game. Thank you....again!

This is still my most favorite drill of all you teach. I do this every night in the barn right after horse feeding. Swing is still a work in progress but coming over the top is disappearing. I can only hit the ball about 100 yards with 8 iron single handed but it’s straight.

Fantastic video, perhaps one of the best I've seen. It nicely summarises some key fundamentals that amateurs like me lose track of while trying to grind out scores in the club Comps. Three important points to hang your hat on when the swing seems to be going to pieces.

Aloha Danny at 7:32 you discuss gripping the club tightly. This is a huge issue I have noticed with most recreational golfers such as myself. My problem is the opposite I hold the club too loose with my right hand (right handed player), which causes the club to turn in my hand. Once the club turns its goodluck from there. Since, I have noticed that I have to literally tell myself during the swing hold on to the club and it is a chore. As long as I keep my right hand gripped through the swing viola baby draws with 30-40 yard increased distance. I went from 220 or 230 to 260 to 270. The other day I watched a really decent player and he had the same issue. As the round continued I watched his right hand go from the "v" pointing to his right shoulder to the "v" almost pointing the left shoulder by the end of the round. His shots became more inconsistent from push fades to snap pulls. I feel its very key too help players understand the importance of a consistent grip. The holding the baby bird cue is terrible. Also, another good practice tip that has helped me for a better swing plane is overexaggerating the "v" made with your arms keeping both elbows abnormally tight to the body while swinging back and through. Like you mentioned golf is counterintuitive. I had to come with my own cues by borrowing from you to really help me be a more consistent player. The grip can easily be missed by golf instructors, because it seems too primary. For those struggling with distance and ball striking consistency check your grip pressure and check if club moves in your bottom grip hand.

Thank you! With practice and focus on smooth tempo (you make the swing look so smooth) this will help. It already helped my irons. I hit 3 pop flies with my driver though. I tried teeing it up higher to focus on hitting up. Maybe I was still hitting down? Once I teed it up lower I started driving line drives again ( my drives are rarely high). Probably too much information...cheers

Kevin G, always tricky without seeing you but this exercise shows that you must hit down even with driver because the driver head then fires up after the low point which is behind the golf ball
